Kurgan the Lurker
Anyone have a good suggestion for a claret red paint? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254258-wine-claret-colored-paint/ Share on other sites
GhostLegion
hmm....i think id work the red+blue combinations til you get the shade you like...yes this is more purple than true red, but i bet you could come close to the color you want off this. maybe starting with a red gore type (or a shade lighter) mixed with ultramarine or regal blue type? I suspect this will get you close to the color you want. as for straight bottle color...well most ive seen work closer into the shiraz than the claret... Honda
Vallejo has a Crimson color that would fit the bill...but that would be a lot of little glasses to paint. Personally, I'd try to mix it as commented before unless the area you have to paint (or number of times to paint) would justify getting the bottle. norskman
I don't know what you think of Privateer Press, but they have two colors, Sanguine base and Sanguine hilight which I really like and feel are good looking colors Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254258-wine-claret-colored-paint/#findComment-3088918 Share on other sites
Solid Zaku
I'm more of a Lambrusco or Cabernet sort of a guy. Try Mechrite (or equivalent) red with a Chestnut Wash and a light drybrush of Liche Purple, and I mean LIGHT. Seleucus
For some reason, the Wargames Foundry paints tend to get little love on forums, but I think you will find what you are looking for here!: http://wargamesfoundry.com/paint_and_brush...d=&page=all The Wine Stain Red or Madder Red should work. Renoster
Kurgan, blended Scab red and Red Gore gives a really deep, full bodied claret with a hint of nuttiness. All kidding aside, I've done some BA shoulder plates with that and a gloss and they look great. Depending on the hue you need, the leviathan purple/asurmen blue/gryphone sepia is good stuff.
