Saw this on DakkaDakka wich was taken from other sites. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts...6DDD0D846530AF5

At first I thought it was BT, then seeing the SM with the red sideway arrows and a closer look it does look like DA. So could this be the cover for 6th edition or the DA codex?

I didn't see nothing posted here so I thought I would see what you guys have to say.

Yes I think the marines are Dark Angels for sure.

I believe this could be the front cover for the rule book AND the cover for the codex. I believe also this could be a prototype without "Warhammer 40'000 text".

Without a doubt it's real artwork to be used for something.

Really looks like DA to me!

Now we can just hope our Legion gets a proper dex finally...i dont want to get a uber dex, just something that doesnt stand back behind BA&SW and general SMs....hmm but then we would HAVE a uber dex fnally! :P

If I'm not mistaken, that looks like a hard cover book. Must be the rule book. :P

Unfortunately being hardcover doesn't necessarily exclude it being a Codex, since there are rumours of hardcover Codexes coming for 6E ala the hardcover 8E WHFB Army books.

It'll be quite disappointing if that turns out to be true, as it will mean the already expensive Codexes will become ridiculously so. By way of example, the current softcover Codexes run $64 here in NZ (BT & Tau being the only exceptions at $48), while the WHFB hardcovers run $81, the Codexes going hardcover is therefore likely equate to a roughly 26.6% (68.8% in the case of C:BT & C:Tau Empire) increase in cost for what is a gaming essential (if you want to play with the latest rules, GW themselves include the Codexes under the Army Essentials section on their site).

me hopes this is the BRB...but we shall see ;)

the guy looks more BT to me, but the other Marines are DA.

@MadDoc: we kiwis always get shunted over by GW prices, this will, unfortunately, be no different... remember, hope is the first step on the road to disappointment :P

The caption at the bottom is more of a hard copy Rule book pedigree.

Um, I wasn't questioning that the book in the pic is hardcover, so I'm alittle confused as to what you're getting at... :P

Egad, I just realised something, its so obvious now, John Key works for GW... or maybe he's just a blinkered elitist prig who only cares about himself and furthering his career... either way... *shudder*

Fixed above.

In terms of DA or BA. The Tac is a dead give away for a DA. I thinkt here is enough "knightly" overlapp of BT and DA where a DA officer could get away with wearing the "knightly" gear that looks BT-ish.

In any case, I hope it means good things to come for the DA hobby focus wise. Culminating in a codex which is rightly deserved after years of misery.

Not necessarily, if this is in fact a hardcover Codex, it'd be the first one we're seeing and would therefore be setting what is and isn't the pedigree of such books. To be honest, it (unfortunately) looks like a Codex to me, though I'd prefer it was the 6E Rulebook (and by extension that hardcover Codexes weren't in the works). I've heard terrible things about the quality of the WHFB hardcover books, shoddy binding and that sort of thing.

True. Plus, its not like alot of BT players use DA plastics (and even the Asmodai figure) unmodified to bulk out their armies or anything... :P

I believe this to be the rule book cover. If I'm not mistaken, the old rule book didn't really have much on the cover but artwork, and if it is a codex, why produce one without the chapter text on it?

It could be neither, instead being a artbook or something similar.

In any case, my fingers are crossed and I am ready to be pleasantly surprised or woefully disappointed.

"In the grim darkness of the far future, there is no indifference. Only an eternity of anticipation and the laughter of inept designers."

:P

Or JK and GW could just sell 49% of everything our kids may want/need in the future and retire. That way nobody but the top 15% will be able to play and the rest of us can move to Ozzy( :) )

OT: My guess is it's the BrB, if for no other reason than timing.

Apparently that is a pic of the hardcover 6E Rulebook, and yes it is Dark Angels on the cover. It is doubtful that GW would use the same art for both the 6E rulebook and the DA 6E codex due to that creating a "product ID at a glance" issue. Even though it is Dark Angels, it is not likely a pic of Codex: Dark Angels 6E, as Codex: Dark Angels 6E will very specifically say "Codex: Dark Angels" on the cover and not just "Warhammer 40,000". Besides, we won't likely be seeing anything for Codex: Dark Angels 6E for another 3 months at the earliest, as others have stated, the timing would have this being for the 6E Big Rulebook release coming up in two weeks. Considering the info lock-down, I would be very surprised if this turned out to be some sort of preliminary C: DA 6E mock-up that is purposely missing the "Codex: Dark Angels" bit. It is hard to tell how thick the book is from the angle of the pic too. We'll know more in about 6 days, or earlier if one of the the more reputable rumor mongers chimes in on it.
