This thread will be my Black Legion project log- as you can see Im focusing this project around my custom Abaddon made from kitbashing a finecast abaddon and a terminator lord... went for a simple approach- no ambiguity as to who this guy is... Angrypantz Posted June 17, 2012 Share Posted June 17, 2012 Really Liking the paint job on the Black Legion space marines and the 'Zerkers but the conversion of Khârn and Abaddon jar a little. The work done on Khârn is amazing but the chainaxe arm is a little off and Abaddon just looks a little off as well. I know far too well how easy it is to just view a thread then move on w/o leavin a reply- I really appreciate the comments! Angrypants- I wonder what's nigglin' ya w the warmaster... Maybe his pose in general? I considered using my old metal Talon on him- I curved the fingers on that one and had it palm up in a menacing "bring it" pose- much like the Forgeworld statue... I preferred the attitude it brought to the mini but in the end I wanted to keep the model metal-free... In hindsight sticking to the original vanilla "I'm shooting my bolter at you" pose was a 'Meh' idea... Kharns arm is a lil big I suppose- I used a stikkbomba arm and shortened it @ the wrist... The pose was singing to me I guess so I ignored the fairly blatant misproportions of it... Maybe finished paint apps will help make it look like it belongs on him. Thanks for the food for thought! Grim- I agree to an extent about the stretched look- the Abby torso and Lord legs were far from a perfect match... But I kinda made do I think. The goal was to make him taller than the newer plastic termies- which worked so I can't complain much. I think his tiny head helps goof up the overall proportions too. Ill get more paint on him and a side-by-side w some other minis n we'll see what we think bout him. Thanks for the Khârn love- can't wait to finish him! Joghurtzerk- Thanks so much- heheh love the comment about the Imperium falling... Hah awesome- About the skulls- I was on the fence about white/black skulls but I decided brown/bone looked softer and gave more color balance- especially on the zerkers- jus a matter of opinion I guess- I do still have paint to slap on Abbys skulls so Ill keep your critique in mind!
