Psycannons to your strike Squads should probably be the first addition; their firepower is invaluable. Also, consider which psychic powers you're going to give to your Librarian, because you have to purchase them so it'll affect your points total.

I would also personally recommend an Assault Vehicle of some form (Land Raider variant or Stormraven) and some Purifers to go in it. Defintely Terminators as funds allow. A lot of people will say take Draigo and loads of Paladins but I personally disagree. depends on your playstyle.

Ahh sorry, should of said, im starting off at 500 till i re learn how to play (get to orips with GK) as its been about 2 years since my last game :0

Ah right fair enough. definitely the Psycannons in that case. Will bring your total to 495, allowing you an extra psychic power for your Librarian. I would suggest Smite, as Necrons are a pain in the arse.

im still unsure of the HQ, i was thinking maybe make him a captain instead of a libby. i did make a list with a dread knight just for kicks but i dont think it would be effective

Depends on what sort of playstyle you're looking for. Captains are absolute combat monsters but Librarians have access to some amazing psychic powers. They're both brilliant H.Q choices, just for completely different reasons.

well iv been looking into it and i think i would definatly stand a beter chance against them in CC so wrote this list to try but im not sure which is more effective

Brotherhood Champion 100

Strike Squad with Psycannon 110

strike squad with psycannon 110

DreadKnight with Great sword and Heavy incenerator 185

now i know this is 5 points over but i think it looks quite a good list but i know very little about it lol.

my 3rd option was coteaz with henchman and a storm raven

That's pretty good actually. If they're cool with the 5 points over I'd run with it.

I think a Brotherhood Champion is very effective for small point values, and he can easily ride in a Razorback (or Rhino) with a small squad. It's not that dissimilar from standard Space Marines where a few small tactical squads, some transports, and an HQ is a basic list.

Another option is to drop the DreadKnight for a pair of Razorbacks with psybolts and weaponry (typically heavy bolters or assault cannons), then add psybolts to everything and possibly one more man to your Strike Squads. Roughly the same firepower, better transport capability, and could get you under your 500 mark.

I'd agree. Brotherhood Champions being single-wound models can make them vulnerable if you receive enough incoming fire to ensure he has to receive at least 1 wound. I believe that Necrons have a pretty good anti-vehicle capability but in 500 points games you're always going to be limited with Grey Knights. Getting in close is the key; Necrons ARE inferior to Grey Knights in combat but they have great ranged capability. I suspect your best bet is to close as fast as possible, firing all the while, and then slam into them and finish them with Nemesis Force Weapons. Engaging them in protracted firefights is likely to cause you problems.

However, if you really want to go with the Dreadknight, swap out the Greatsword for a Nemesis Daemon Hammer. It strikes at the Dreadknight's Initiative and grants him strength 10 (with 2D6 armour penetration against vehicles). That, and it's 10 points cheaper than the Greatsword, bring you under your 500 point limit.
