Greith, The Blood-Stained Grin

Recommended Posts

So here he is, completely modeled. I'm still debating on if I want to shift his axe arm or his head slightly but, overall, I'm really proud of how he came out.

I'll post my fluff for him when I get it all figured out.

Thanks man, although technically both of the helmets on his base are going to be Blood Angels. The theme of my army is my the warband is raiding an imperial world being defended by the imperial guard and a small strike force of Blood Angels that is ultimately butchered to the man.

Olisredan- Why thank you, brother. :) That backpack is actually from the possessed sprue. I just added the captain's helmet for effect. The axe is actually from none other than the Krell Lord of Undeath model from the Vampire Counts line. The rest of him went to my Warband's Lieutenant/Equerry who I will also be posting up in a few days.

Imperial Deceit- We feed the ones we've taken prisoner with the blood of their fallen brothers. If they do carry this so called 'red thirst', then let them drink to their heart's cotent! :)

I'd be happy to. :)

Head- chaos knights kit

torso- forge world khorne berzerker upgrade sprue

right shoulder pad- Night Lord Upgrade Sprue, power sword arm

Left shoulder pad- forge world khorne berzerker upgrade sprue

Legs- possessed chaos marine kit

Back pack- possessed chaos marine kit

Axe- Krell, Lord of undeath

Chain loincloth- chaos terminator Lord kit

That should about cover it I think

Now he looks brutal. Watch those mould lines though, they're a pain if you don't get them early!

Ah, the Khorne icons are from Forgeworld parts. I was going to ask how you got your greenstuff so clean-cut! Lovely model, and I'm firmly for annihilating those wretched Ward Angels, kudos for picking such an appropriate set of victims!

Od.

looks ace brother noctus ;)

i like the composition of parts and his pose is indeed very strong.

you could maybe turn the axe hand a little to his left, that way the blade could be seen from the front.

seconded on the mold lines and i'm also wondering where he left his plasma pistol

Thanks for the input guys. Ya, the pictures are making it easier for me to see those damn mold lines so ill be sure to go over it with a hobby knife before I paint him.

His plasma pistol? Pfttt... Knowing Greith, he probably left it on the ship or dropped it in the middle of the massage. He has little love for guns.

Or belted someone in the face with it hard enough that it broke? :tu:

Looking pretty darn good - love the nice, relaxed post-slaughter pose.

Now, with the name you've given him, are you going to paint a nice big red Joker-esque grin across his helmet?

Ya. While that would be rather amusing, I think I'll have to pass on that idea.

The whole theme of Greith I was really trying to go for was I wanted to present this aura of controlled insanity

Khârn and many of his counts as are portrayed as raving lunatics, screaming as they charge in. While that's all fine and dandy, that just isn't my cup of tea when you're trying to make a character truly memorable.

I drew from alot of different villains from various movies and games that helped inspire Greith; Hannibal Lector, Walter Sullivan, the Joker, Freeza, Johann, Michael Baits. Absolutely psychotic and blood thirst individuals that still maintain an air of calm and collectiveness. Greith doesn't kill for Khorne. He doesn't kill for his legion. He cares nothing for revenge, power, or wealth. He kills purely for his own personal amusement because it's fun. You cannot bribe or reason with him. He will kill you and there is nothing you can do about it.

The way i really wanted to present that type of personality into Greith was i wanted to make him seem casual, a killer at ease devoid of all emotion. The pose was one part of this but probably the most important piece was his helmet. His helmet is completely blank. No eye slits, no vox grill, no tusks or fanged maw. Just a sheet of metal with a few holes in it. From this, there's no possible way of registering his feelings on the surface. His body language is as empty as the helmet that hides his cold casual smile as he butchers your corpse into hundreds of little pieces.

Great model there, love the stance. I always think models look more deadly when portrayed with a nonchalant pose rather than the waving weapons in the air look.

He suits your description of him, he looks pretty well versed in the art of casual killing all right.

And come on folks we've all dropped a plasma pistol in the middle of a massage in our time haven't we?

I don't think he has. ;)

Glad you like it man, I'm happy that my conversion is off on the right foot... even if the fluff isnt.....

I'm altering the pose yet again, mainly raising up the axe just slightly so it seems more natural but Im also probably going to tilt his head to the other side. The way it is now, it seems almost as if he's a bit lopsided... Hoping that will fix the problem.

I will also be putting up pics of my equerry soon.

So, as I promised, here's some pics of my Equerry Tor Val. His title is still pending, as I have not found one I liked yet. If anyone has any ideas, just let me know.

Love the Chaos Knight helmet you've used on Greith, something very unsettling about it. Good to see Krell (and his axe) getting some use, too, definitely fits the Night Lords theme and the power armor conversion really works. Excellent use of severed heads on both. :D Very interested to see them painted up.
