What models are in your GK force?

So, almost 6months to the day since my son dragged me back into Games Workshop after a 15yr break, and with me getting Stormraven this weekend for Fathers Day (cheers son for suggesting it to the wifey, far better than socks and mugs), I decided to count up what I have collected in 6 months.

I was rather amazed to be honest, especially as alot of it has come from discount suppliers and ebay. I have (all painted, except where noted)

HQ

Draigo, Librarian, Coteaz, Mordrak, 2 Flak Armour Inquisitor, 1 PA Inquistor

TROOPS

2x 10man Strike Squad GKs (4 pyscannons), 1x 10man Purg Squad (4 psycannons), 1 x 10man Purifier Squad (3 incinerators)

12 x Terminators / Paladins (all magnetised) - I have 12 as swapped parts for spare legs and bodies and made 2 extra guys from my 2 boxes of spares ;)

5 x Ghost Knights

16 Warrior Acolytes with Bolters (5 unpainted, part of my ETL pledge)

8 DCAs (4 unpainted)

2 Crusaders

6 Psykers

1 Mystic

1 Vindicare Assassin

ARMOUR

1 Landraider Redeemer

2 Dreadnoughts (1 venerable)

1 Chimera

1 Stormraven (just magnetising and painting)

1 Rhino / Razorback (unpainted, will be my next ETL pledge)

I roughly calculated that I have about 4000 points before upgrades and enough to vary my games alot.

What do most of your guys have model wise, and where should I build up?

I've actually cut down on my GK army and parted some models out to friends. But I do still have:

Karamazov

Draigo

Crowe

Maleus Inq

Techmarine

Vindicare

Callidus

20 Terminators/Paladins

15 GKSS

20 Purifiers

@ Psyfledreads

2 Dreadknights

You probably will note the lack of any transports - I have always loved foot lists - the lack of a libbie, etc. I now plan with 6ed looming to get a hold of two land raiders nad a libbie. I would rather not use the ones I have painted up for a different army and just paint up inquisition themed ones. I'm going to have look closely at 6ed rules before investing in too many new units.

It's been around six months for me as well since I started back up, so a count for myself wouldn't be bad. I've been going back and forth between painting these and my new bugs as well.

HQ

Draigo, Grand Master Me (hehe), Librarian (custom), 2 inquisitors

Elites

19 Paladins (6 psycannons, 1 apothecary, 2 banner bearers, rest are set up in different configurations)

3 Callidus

3 Culexis

3 Eversor

1 Vindicare

2 DCA, 4 Daemonhosts, 2 warrior acolytes, 2 weapon servitors

Troops

20 Terminators (15 old metal with plastic arms, 5 new)

10 OOP PAGK

Heavy support

3 psyrifle dreads

2 dreadknights

1 land raider w/ FW doors

Personally, I'm planning on working with Purifiers next. As for you, I would say whatever play style you want to move on to next is what will dictate your next purchases. If you want to move fast, more storm ravens, have a little slow an sluggish time but be armoured, some land raiders. Possibilities are endless, just depends on where you want to go next with it.

It's also, oddly enough, around 6 months since I started collecting the new GK army. Did have a DH army once, but sold them since I hated metal models at the time. Wish I still had them though. Damn finecast.

Draigo

Libby

Grand Master

20 Paladins

20 PAGK

3 Dreadknights

Inquisitor

20-30 ish henchmen (These are not actually henchmen, mostly I use servitor models, OOP necromunder gangs etc)

Inquisitor Rex from Forgeworld

Back in the day of Daemonhunters i amassed a nice army of:

Daemon Hunter codex

1 TDA GW grand master

3 Ordo Malleus in TDA

1 OM in PA with hammer

2 death cult assassins

2 servitors

7-9 random kit bashed/ converted henchmen

20 inquisitor storm troopers

2 mk1 rhinos (pre FW)

2 dreadnought assorted armed

20 grey knights

7 TDA grey knights

1 evesor assassin

1 vindicare assassin

with the now Grey knight codex I use this;

Crowe count as

Cortez count as

8 TDA GK with Thrawn

2 Ven dreads

2 X 10 purifiers with rhinos

2 X 10 man storm troop henchman

I hope to add more to it some day.

I've been around since Daemonhunters too, so most of this is the old pewter stuff. I'm not gonna say how much is painted, because it's honestly kind of embarrassingly low after so long.

1 Grand Master (psycannon, sword)

1 OM Inq (termy, hammer, psycannon)

Coteaz (counts-as)

1 Vindicare

14 Terminators (various weapons)

40-some henchmen (all sorts)

53 PAGK (various weapons/packs)

3 Dreadnoughts (2 venerable)

1 Dreadknight (incinerator, sword)

2 Chimerae

3 Razorbacks

2 Land Raiders

1 Land Raider Crusader

That’s 274 models, It’s the first time I have counted them all :)

Stormshadow, that is a quiet impressive list.

General consensus amongst the lists is that I am missing a Dreadknight or 2, but I am just not that enamoured with them. The really great use they have is (IMHO) only bought to fruit with a personal teleporter, which adds a further 75 points to an already hefty chunk of points anyway.

Hello

Completely painted:

HQ

Coteaz

Karazamov

7 other Inquisitors, 2 in terminator armour.

Elites

2 Vindicares

Callidus

Eversor

Troops

About 60 appropriately painted henchmen/women/things, plus another 60 or so which are primarily used as guard.

Tranports

Rhino

3 Chimera

Heavy Support

3 Land Raiders

I have a bunch of techmarines, old-style GK terminators and a venerable dread, too - but why would I ever want to field marines in a Grey Knight army?

crowe (painted)

GM/BC (painted)

inquisitor in PA (old metal one that i need to repaint and repair)

2 techmarines (one painted one not)

25 purifiers (all painted with 10 psycannons and 5 hammers)

stormraven (in the process of being painted)

5 terminators (painted)

random marines laying around that could be formed into a unit (some broken halberds and some of the warding staves).

the other ones MIGHT just be changed into interceptors dunno...

At the moment I have:

Grand Master/Brother Captain

Librarian made from a spare Terminator that I had

Inquisitor Coteaz and Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor

Brotherhood Champion

14 Terminators

15 Purifiers

5 Interceptors

5 Purgators

Dreadknight and Dreadnought

2 Razorbacks and 2 Rhinos

Stormraven

Eversor Assassin

Vindicare Assassin

Culexus Assassin

Callidus Assassin

3 Sanctioned Psykers

Still have to add 2 5-man Strike Squads that I need for a forthcoming campaign.

That really depends on the list you're running. Perhaps you don't need one at all. Perhaps you could use one, but it doesn't need a teleporter. There is no one "right" way to do it. Personally, I run mine with just the heavy incinerator. It either deep-strikes along with some other stuff, or it sits near the front of my lines and takes care of enemy deep-strikers, units in cover, or any tanks or small infantry units that come near. I agree that 75pts for a jump pack is very steep, which is why I never take it. You really need to play a very aggressive army as a whole for that to be necessary. But I have never needed it enough to justify the points, and the dreadknight does really well for me as he is.

I was meh, on the Dreadknight when the codex and model were first released, but he has really grown on me (now I own two). There will be several advantages to having one in rumored 6e rules, including a much more forgiving Deep Strike Mishap table, and the Monstrous Creature "smash" attack. I think you can try working with one with no Teleporter, armed with a Nemesis Great Sword and Heavy Incinerator for several games and see how he works out for you; you'll probably learn to appreciate what he can do for your army, especially if you assign a small Strike Squad to accompany him (or Interceptors, if you do decide to pony up for the Teleporter).

Valerian

Mine started as a modelling project under Daemonhunters.

1 FW Redeemer - the flaming tank concept was just too cool to pass.

1 FW Hector Rex - working as GKGM

1 Coteaz

1 Vindicare - around 15 years old, when I briefly pondered about getting back into the game.

7 metal paladins - 2 Psycannons

20 FW Krieg Grenadiers - ISTs now warrior acolytes.

6 metal flayed ones - murder servitors aka DCAs.

2 Rhinos

1 Lasback

1 Psyfleman

1 Plasma'nought

2 fully kitted dreadknights - 1 a chinese resin copy of prime quality although a bit too brittle for comfort.

1 Raven

20 various henchmen models serving whatever role needed :jaw:
