[Commission/Golden Demon] 'Hunting Bigger Game'

Recommended Posts

The direction of the highlights changes as you go round the compound curve onto the upper surface. Same direction(s) were used to highlight each side. Pretty confident it's more or less correct technically. As for the look, the black/white has a lot added with the double lining on the black portions. Time is too limiting to do that on the green, but it's something I'll bear in mind if I do a similar effect on something else.

I don't doubt it is technically correct, but as I am certain you know, technically correct doesn't always look right. Regardless, I stand by my initial statement, that looks awesome, and I hope it earns you a top spot.

Not very good photos; off an iPad, and at night. The last few stages should change the look quite significantly. It's unlikely I'll get much chance to stop for decent photos now, so this may be the last update until it's done...

The cracked effect reads much better when in place on the model. You have really achieved a stunning piece with this. I hope it gets recognized at the Demons, but the recognition you got here should make it worth it ...

I figured out what to do with some dead space on the diorama. BURN IT. BURN IT WITH FIRE!

And somebody requested a close up of the Warhound Designation mark. Also you'll notice the supporting barrel is now tied in to the base. I figure it's safer to make it part of the display rather than have it removable.

No pics of the titan till after GD now. Want to keep the finished (and it is) beasty under wraps for now. :-) Still have to add the banners and some more brass etch foliage anyway. Should be done with everything late tonight.

2, no 3 things.

1. Water pouring out of the canteen. Seriously?!? That is taking it to the next level sir! Bloody good form!

2. How in the name of the Emperor do you do your "grassy" areas if you would be so kind?

3. The burnt ground effect may be even more mental than the water ;)

As ever, just amazing work!

The scrub is woodland scenics fine foliage scatter. Lots of brown wash to knock it back from the rather bright green it is naturally, drybrush, airbrush dusting. Basically just grub it up till it blends with the terrain. There is a LOT of pigment on the ground, too, some of which gets on the scatter which helps.

Just got back from gamesday. Massive congrats on your well deserved demon.

Congrats on winning a demon

:o

You won a demon? Heartfelt congratulations, brother! Bloody well done! :)

If this "just" took a demon then either that's seriously unfair or the sword winner was mind blowing.

Absolutely love this piece and a demon was at the least what it deserved. Need to show us the whole thin in total detail now!!

The piece this came second to (in diorama) took the sword. And was mind blowing, especially the banner. I'm very happy with the silver, and particularly enjoyed hovering around while people speculated on what I did... was fun. :-)

Edit: There are some minor repairs to do, and I need to get set up to photo it properly. It'll be at least a few days before I can get decent pics up. The GW guys took some good ones though. I think.
