Mazer Rackham
Ok, ideas are raging around like wildfire at the moment. Not sure where this should actually be, but it is Heresy related so please Mods if it is the wrong place, accept my apologies and paste it where it is fitting. I dropped it here due to the "alternative Heresy" stuff and all the Pre-Heresy love we're seeing. "We set out from Hallowed Terra, flung into the void, expecting to be murdered, savaged, reviled. We were. We expected a great many failures and, cast adrift upon the seas during the Great Voyage, the memory of Olde Terra was distant, kept only as candles, burning in the hearts of our Enchanters. Through Human sweat and blood and toil, we made a home for ourselves in the stars, failures being borne, success being celebrated. Each of us, telling his grandchildren that they would see the homeworld, the ancestors would one day return and we would be brothers. We did not know then as we know now - even as Brother turns on Brother, that those kinsmen would bring the True Enemy, the one thing that hates all mankind for what it is. The thing we guard against with every truth and strength of soul. Kaos. They had taken him - Horus. In doing so they plunged us into peril and enslaved us to the Imperium. That was our Last Mandate for war. But I can still remember the first. I can still remember the time before the Legions, before Horus, even before the Kinebrach. The First Mandate - the Great Expansion." So, if you're still with me, I'll explain the thinkings. In Horus Rising we get a good look at the Interex, it's weapons and equipment etc. I paid special attention to the parts where the Interex plate armour holds up to five or six bolter rounds before cracking, and was as Garviel Loken put it "The equal of Astartes plate" and how thier weapons could penetrate Mk IV Maximus pattern armour and the dude inside. I got to thinking - I could use Codex SM no problem, just with a name change or two and maybe using a special character to shuffle around the FOC where I wanted. It would be a "It's the Imperium Jim, but not quite as we know it." I won't be using GW mini's exclusively for this, but they will use Power Armour and will look appropriately equipped. I hope to represent the Interex from it's early stages, when mankind was cobbling stuff together, only using the better stuff exceptionally for Captains and command staff. Thoughts? MR. AGPO
I love the idea of theis project. The meeting with the Interex was the most tragic part of that book for me. Any descriptions of what type of models you'll be using? Mazer Rackham
Thanks for your reply :) I'll be using these minis for rank and file to start with - I wanted a "marine" look, and these fit the bill, but I'll be doing a history workup and everything from when they were fleet based and using pseudo-armour, right up to the Kinebrach Conflict and the bows and centaurs of the Sagitars. Early on they will be represented by Space Marine bikes - or equivalent, so we stay power-armoured. As I say, lots of little details to write down yet and a plan of action to be drawn up, but the bonfire is burning. Edit: I think I've gotten confused between the Interex and the Technocracy - but ho hum - the beauty of STC's is that they make similar looking stuff..! MR. Mazer Rackham
Cheers, will do my best - to the Fluff workshop! :D On the Anvil guys, the models are great and require virtually zero clean-up. Big of vote of thanks to Brother Lestat for putting me onto them. MR.
