Forging of Ultramar - Great Crusade Ultramarines

Recommended Posts

Hello there

Ive always wanted to do a fluffy 30k army & after reading "Know No Fear" i was inspired to start a Ultramarines force. I love the roman feel of there weapons, armour etc & its about time smurfs are made cool.

It works out quite well as my LGC are planning to run a 30k campaign in the next few months - 1000pts using a mix of the 30k rules set & current C:SM.

So ive got some time to work on it.

It states in KNF that the Ultramarines are made up of 25 Chapters (10,000 marines) each chapter made out of 10 compaines (1000 marines) with each company led by a Captain.

As im using the Captain from the 30k codex as my HQ & dont want to go against the current fluff im going to base my force on the 2nd Chapter, 11th Company (which currently has no fluff about it).

My 1000pts list should go like this

HQ - Captain

x2 Tactical Squads in Rhino's

x2 Dreadnoughts

x1 Devastator Squad

I plan do them as fluffy as possible using the correct armour varients, weapons etc & each marine to be armed with a gladius :(

So heres my first two WIP mini's

Captain "Manilus Cato" - Armed with plasma pistol & powerfist wearing artificier armour

& from Tactical Squad "Velox"

Sgt "Titus Macro" - Armed with power sword, bolt pistol & wearing a modified & personalised version of the mk3 armour

Heres "Brother Varo" Armed with Mk2 varient of the autocannon (which is more mobile than the mk1 but sacrifices magazine capicity) & wearing the new Praetor pattern helmet.

The 11th Company have been honoured to field test the Praetor pattern helmet due to their highly decorated past & experience in frontal assaults.

Nice stuff!

Im not the biggest fan of Marvellous Marneus and his magic marines but these look really promising.

Heresy era armies are the business and I hope to attempt some in the future. I like the use of the Rapier crew head for your sergeant and the Capitan looks superb.

Are you going to start painting these once you have finished your silver skull vow?

Good luck with them mate

You know the Mk2 leg armor looks so skinny compared to the awesomeness of the Mk3. I think they look kinda off because of it but the other mixes are awesome. Especially love Titus Macro! Looking forward to seeing the rest.
