Pink Horror

Recommended Posts

I came across this fellow while I was packing up stuff for my house move, all he needed to be completed was for his base to be textured so armed with a pot of new texture paint I set about finishing him off:

I know it's not the most amazing paintjob but I thought I'd stick some pics up and see what people thought :)

comments and criticism are very welcome,

hopefully this is the first of many 'new' topics in the HoH

cheers

Thanks for the comments guys,

@ Azarias,Kassill & Psyberius Daemonbane: It's funny, I never noticed that he was throwing up the horns until I showed him to my other half once I'd finished his base last night :D.

@ Renoster: Oooh, I never thought of adding gloss varnish to him... :). If you're interested the colour recipe was as follows:

Basecoat of Dwarf Flesh, Wash of Baal Red, Layer of Dwarf Flesh, Highlight of Elf Flesh. I know those colours don't exist anymore but it should be possible to colour match them.

@ Battle-Brother Ludovic: I think I did highlight the tongue but since you mention it, it's not very visible in the photos... It was a subtle highlight which is probably why it's not visible :D since he's not varnished I might give it a little pepping up.

The texture paints are... Um, well they aren't as amazing as they were hyped up to be to be honest. I've found that sometimes a couple of layers are neccessary to get sufficient 'texture' on the base but compared to brushing on PVA glue, adding sand, waiting for it to dry, then painting it, it is a time saver (although they do take a while to dry). They can be watered down to get them to flow easier which is handy for getting in about details on the base which is another plus. Maybe on reflection I'm being overly critical of them because I've only used one a couple of times so far, and I do plan to keep using them as and when I can.

cheers

Thanks for the reply! ^_^ And another question for the texture paints: do they already contain sand/grit?
