Greetings, brothers. I have a little Dark Angels army. I love them, I love fluff of our 1'st Legion and I like to play this army (more than enough powerful, I think). Most of all, I collect Deathwing with some support elements. Unfortunately, I am very lazy, so a big amount of my miniatures rest unpainted. I create this topic to motivate myself to paint and to share with you my progress with it.

I want to make of them something looks like this:

If you're going to use dreadnought leg armor plates for termie shoulder pads, at least try to modify them a little bit so it's not so obvious that you just stuck dreadnought leg armor plates on there, and backwards from the normal direction people do it in.

Round off the edges. Do a little cutting to make them look like they semi-sorta fit and belong there. Something.

The rest of your army looks pretty good, but that one picture was like hitting a speed bump at 70 mph.

If I change the direction of shoulders, winged sword on the shoulder pad will rotate up and it will looks... strange, I think

Me likie ;)

Hot and cold on the dread shoulder pads - different, but as said previously you can spot what they are as they stand out. Kudos for going there though.

Also not convinced with the ML on the dreadnought from the RW Typhoon - to me they are way too big. :tu:

Maybe just one would have been enough with a central mounting point. That would mean that you could have done 2 Dreads......

Beautiful! Simply beautiful. I loath painting vehicules. But yours look great! :P

What loadouts do you give your tactical squads?

I like your objective markers too! Simple yet effective. ^_^

Keep it up! ;)

Thx for kind comments, guys! I will work and upload updates as soon as they will be completed.

Magnus Thane, in 5 edition I use 5-men squad with melta/plasma in Razorback with TLC. Or 10-men squad with melta, ML, power fist in Rhino.

Now, in 6 edition I don't know, how to use them. Now I take a lot of foot DW terminators.

Maybe, new codex will make our Tacticals stronger and more hardened...

The LR looks much better with the green bits :) Great job there and I am flattered that you liked mine so much you did something similar.

Quick question though - Did you paint over the mud effect at the bottom of the tracks or did you just have it on one side?

For me, the sheer size of the Land Raider has always meant it looked better with some Dark Angels Green elements in addition to the straight Deathwing Bone. Love it.

I agree. That great bone mass needs breaking down a bit either with large stripes or symbols (chapter, company or army markings of some kind) or as you've done it, with different coloured panels.

Teh 'new' Crusader looks awesome sauce :).

Thx for comments, brothers. I was far away from my minis (in other country :) ), but now I came back and continue painting.

Quick question though - Did you paint over the mud effect at the bottom of the tracks or did you just have it on one side?

First, I paint clear LRC. Then I add mud to both sides. And then I think, that I do it wrong, and I can't paint mud beautiful, so I clear LRC again :)

For mud effects you might consider using weathering powders, any hobby/model store should have them. I've tried them on my test mini and was quite happy with the result. The only problem with powders is how to fix them on a mini, but there are ways around. Edited by Psish
