Big Mek LugNutz
Hello Again Everyone, First of all, to the moderators. This is not a modelling and painting thread, this will not have any pictures or WIP progress, this is strict conversation and sharif ideas. Thanks. As some of you may know or have seen, I have let the community here at Bolter and Chainsword decide the fate of my new chapter, specifically the name (decided in my last thread), and the colour scheme, which I hope to make a decision on in this thread. Ok, so heres a few of my thoughts and details established in the last thread: First of all the name of my chapter is the 'Purifiers'. Apparently no one ever finishes a 'Purifier' army, so thats what we're doing here today. As far as rules, I don't have very many. #1: Make them 'presentable' ;) . Put on your style caps everyone, I will be playing with these models in the end. #2: Take the name into consideration. Try to pick a paint scheme that, in your opinion suits a chapter named the 'purifiers', ie. no pink please. ***Notice***: Please share your design in whatever format you want. You can post just a word response, or even post a picture of your colour scheme from the Space Marine Painter for more detail (which I would really appreciate! :ermm: ) In addition you can also post any heraldry or symbols that you think fit appropriately with the colours you have chosen (In the last thread I said that I was going to use fists, but I decided to eliminate the factor in order to add more control to the community). thanks in advance, -Big Mek LugNutz Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254615-painting-the-purifiers/ Share on other sites
Imperial Deceit
Here is one I did up a while ago but ultimately abandoned because it didn't fit the rest of my army. Chapter Master Ignis Domus
Mwahahaha! You are doomed to an eternity of torment! But hey, at least I'm happy. :D Here's one we had during the group attempt to create a Purifiers IA: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254615-painting-the-purifiers/#findComment-3093760 Share on other sites
Ace Debonair
Mwahahaha! You are doomed to an eternity of torment! But hey, at least I'm happy. :P Here we go again...! :P :D If I was painting some Purifiers, I'd be going with white and gold for the most part, so.... Why pick a flashy scheme when the simple ones will do look better? ;) EDIT: Also, purity is a simple, clean ideal. You want to reflect that with a clean, simple colour setup, am I right? ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254615-painting-the-purifiers/#findComment-3093889 Share on other sites
KhorneHunter57x
I picture them looking something like this: Mostly gold, with dark blue trim and robes. For the Chapter Symbol, I think that something incorporating a halo or a starburst would be fitting. How complex would you be willing to go? Perhaps something like a combination of the Raven Guard and Novamarines symbols - a bird surrounded by a halo/starburst? I think that a blue bird on a white starburst with white Tactical markings would look good. Big Mek LugNutz
Mwahahaha! You are doomed to an eternity of torment! But hey, at least I'm happy. I guess we'll see then, but I'm quite confident I'll finish. Anyways... Ok cool, thanks everyone for the ideas so far. I'm not sure how I'm going to decide the winner; we could do another vote, or I could pick. Let me know which you'd prefer. Durus
Was considering doing something fist/hand related with a DIY a few years ago as well. This was the idea: http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/8391/colrchange.jpg Left to right, trooper (only one arm white), Veteran (both arms white), Vet. Sarge (Arms white and helmet red per Codex). I think this time you should choose, you need to like the scheme, after all you'll be staring at it for a while when you paint them. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254615-painting-the-purifiers/#findComment-3094315 Share on other sites
Big Mek LugNutz
@Durus: Wow, really good army scheme ;) . I really like the markings denoting their ranks. I'll definitely consider using these colours (if its ok with you ^_^ ). @KhorneHunter57x: Another good scheme. My only concern is painting yellow. I can paint NMM and blend, but for some unexplainable reason I am unable to paint yellow (to a high level of quality). As for symbols? Make your symbol ideas as complex as you want. I'm pretty dexterous with a lump of greenstuff and modelling knife or with just my paints + brush if I need to. + a Quick Question: Has anyone ever 'finished' a Purifier army. Like, am I copying anyone right now? (I really wanted to make a 'new' chapter, so as long as no one has finished an entire army I'll be good) thanks to everyone thus far, -Big Mek LugNutz Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254615-painting-the-purifiers/#findComment-3094352 Share on other sites

Naminé
Ok here's my design idea for the Purifiers! http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p45/quistis333/purifiers.jpg Complete with chapter logo! http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p45/quistis333/purifiertestpaint.jpg How it would look painted! Demus Ragnok
Chapter symbol should be fire, like a torch or brazier of fire. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254615-painting-the-purifiers/#findComment-3094632 Share on other sites
chaplaincliff
A white bird within a ring of fire as the symbol, a white thus pure imperial eagle (the imperium) surrounded and protected by the purifying wrath of fire (the chapter); this is my thought for a symbol, as for the chapter colors I would go for dorus' idea just with the colors reversed. Big Mek LugNutz
Namíne: Great colours. This is what I kinda had in mind when I was working on Purifier schemes of my own (just for fun) i.e. neutral colours mixed with a dark/blood red. Anyways; I have a challenge for, if you are willing to accept it; would you, or do you have the time to add a few denotation markings to your scheme, like Durus did. Your scheme is one I'd definitely consider, so I just wanted to see it to its fullest. The symbol is also quiet good; a little challenging to paint or sculpt, but then again. I'm always open to challenges ;) . p.s. glad you like the thread! chaplaincliff: Jeez, theres a design. It really screams 'Purifiers', plus it has the level of complexity (in between a shape and a portrait) I was looking for. ***Notice***: I've decided that I will pick the winner for this thread. Some of you may disagree, but in the end I am choosing one of the schemes the community entered. Plus in the end, I will have to paint these models, so I definitely want a colour scheme that I can get excited about. I will try to make a decision by Thursday night/Friday, after I head down to Montana for the summer. So until then, happy scheming and happy summer! thanks, -Big Mek LugNutz Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254615-painting-the-purifiers/#findComment-3094768 Share on other sites
Naminé
Okee dokee, I'll try and come up with some suitable markings and such... unfortunately I am quite busy over the next couple of days so it might not be until wednesday I can update them :) About painting the symbol, if it comes to that: It's not actually that hard, it just looks complicated! Just paint a big C shape first, then another few C-shapes at opposite angles coming from the main one. Finally a tiny c in the middle will complete it. PS: I think it's cool how 3 of us have arrived at the idea of fire as the chapter symbol! Chapter Master Ignis Domus
Hm. You're still alive. My budget ninjas must not have worked, then. I can't wait to see your choice of scheme, though. Should be interesting to get some new input. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254615-painting-the-purifiers/#findComment-3097284 Share on other sites
Big Mek LugNutz
@Chapter Master Ignis Domus: Those were your ninjas? Yes, they were a cagey bunch, but in the end they were no match for my psychic abilities! I can't wait to see what colours I pick either; I mean, its still pretty 'up in the air' right now. Anyways, to motivate/inspire any would-be contributors (and just for fun), I thought I'd toss my hat in the ring as well, and share a scheme that I think reflects the 'Purifiers' (in my opinion). This doesn't mean that I have made a choice, and to be honest, this is probably one of my least favourite schemes compared to some of the entries thus far. Hope this helps keep those creative juices flowing! http://i1224.photobucket.com/albums/ee378/Big_Mek_LugNutz/spacemarine.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254615-painting-the-purifiers/#findComment-3098520 Share on other sites

fivepointedstar
I was thinking something along this: http://i863.photobucket.com/albums/ab196/DeathKnight2000/icons/spacemarine-3.jpg The blue-ish color would be a light blue with metallic blend, and a soft tone under armor. The shoulder pads are flat red with orange trim to symbolize a flame like image. Like this marine would carry the fire of the imperium upon his shoulders. For his heraldry I would use a flame blazing upward kinda like a LotD type fire symbol like this.. http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i56/unrealkiller/legion-damned.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254615-painting-the-purifiers/#findComment-3098906 Share on other sites
Big Mek LugNutz
@DeathKnight2000: *Imagining the colour scheme w/ the flames* Putting the flames aside for a second its a pretty solid colour scheme on its own, but with the flames it would give the whole model a new 'flavour' (+ make it look less Space 'Wolfish'). Good suggestion! Definitely going to be considered tomorrow. ***NOTICE***:: Leaving for Montana right now, but we'll get there by 6:30. I'l try to make a decision by Friday (unless anyone is currently working on something and they would like the time to be extended). Thanks for all the entries, the support has been very helpful! thanks, Big Mek LugNutz Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254615-painting-the-purifiers/#findComment-3099038 Share on other sites
Big Mek LugNutz
***CONTEST CLOSED***: First of all I know I'm closing this contest a little late, but we have had friends down for the last couple days so I've been a little occupied. Secondly, I'd like to thank any and everyone who participated in either part of this community project. Out of the many colour schemes entered over the past week I've come to a decision as to which colours to go with for the Purifiers. In the end I went with Durus's suggestion: ( THIS> http://i1224.photobucket.com/albums/ee378/Big_Mek_LugNutz/colrchange.jpg ) I will be posting a W.I.P. thread with army progress in PaM once I have all my gear together! thanks for all the help, -Big Mek LugNutz Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254615-painting-the-purifiers/#findComment-3102497 Share on other sites
