6ED Overwatch and Counter Attack

Looks like SW can use the new overwatch rule, shoot at a charging enemy and then use counter attack, this makes the Wolves even more deadly in 6th edition.

The site is busy, I thought I heard that we could have one or the other not both. If both, we will be feared to assault. Better off shooting us dead.

sweet mother of god! ;) .. anyone thought about the consequence this means for a squad of HB lfs? or pretty much any of the heavy weapons besides plasma cannons ( krak missiles ).

I'd like to know how blast template weapons work for this

 

Flamers according to white dwarf get d3 automatic hits for overwatch, be nice if its something similar for template but even if they are on ballistic skill one you have a 1 in 3 chance of being accurate. The risk of course is that you scatter back on your own troops but if its a squad of plasma cannon toting long fangs against some terminators the risk is defo worth it because you will get muched anyway.

 

Does this make up for Long Fangs being nerfed against flyers?

Think alot of space wolf players are going to have to take bastions with the quad guns.

Great, even more complaints about broken spacewolves.

 

 

I don't think SW will be THAT broken in 6th edition. Well, at least they won't be the only ones. Everybody will have access to comparatively everything and weird lists will start to appear. That is the 40k version of Warhammer Fantasy Hordes, when instead of buying extra 50 models they invite You to buy a second army and a piece of GW terrain, with a back-thought that some day You may expand that army and bring more cash. Personally I don't care that much about it as it upset me in fantasy. I have ~ 1700 low-mech Cadians including Vendetta and Baneblade - never bothered enough to buy full mech for them for leaf-blower and focused on SW instead, so experimenting with allied force won't have such a dramatic impact on my wallet.

Yup does sound like various ally builds will be the overpowered armies

 

The good things for SW seem like

A)Divination sound like a very good set to get

1)no cover saves

2)reroll successful saves

3)snap fire at full bs to allow shooting flyers and overwatch and firing from vehicles having moved 12

4) reroll 3 outflank and reserves rolls

5 )Halluination can make unit kill itself

 

b)rapid fire 2 shots 24" on th move

 

I can dig out my plamsa guns it would seem

 

 

c)snap fire and counter attack work together

 

 

 

d)prefered enemy reroll shooting

logan and wolf priests + long fangs oh yeah

 

e)FNP is worse

Of course there is a difference. And how about a Blaster-Venom spam combined with Seer Council?

Speaking of, if I can, I'm totally getting some big daemons to go with my Tau.

I call it now, this will be the edition known for throwing **all the fluff** out the window...

But I am already feeling bad since I know that most probably I will be including Imperial Guard as allies for my Space Wolves. A squadron of LR MBT, Vendetta with melta vets, Master of Fleet...

 

Btw, what is the difference between snap fire and overwatch? I can't find these rules or are these just different titles for the same rule?

From what I can gather, SW are going to remain much as we are, a solid top tier army with some nasty tricks but not horribly broken. Grey Hunters are still looking like the best troops choice hands down and Sky Claws got a major buff.

 

The changes to tanks look a bit nervy though, and I suspect that I'll be retiring either my Vindie or Dakka Pred for either more Fangs or perhaps Skyclaws. Also, scoring Wolf Lords. That will be awesome.

Hmm, a squadron of Vendetta's (TC 12) to transport my 10-man Grey Hunter pack plus Wolf Guard Pack Leader and IC? And I can now field my 2nd Ed Space Wolves Leman Russ (in a squadron of three no less)? All for the cost of 115pts of PDF (Enginseer and Veteran squad)? Woot.
