Holy...... That. Is. AWESOME! ;)

How did you do that green? And how did you do those symbols? (my latest attempt at my Salamanders legion symbol has left me having to repaint the pads..)

Is It possible to say they are done without the legion symbol?

Sheep, you are going to have one of the nicest armies out there if they are all in that green. Can't wait to see the other guys ;).

Edit: Should be able to post the guys later today or tomorrow :P Am going to use the transfers, hopefully they will work:P.

Sorry for the long pause, had some things to attend to. Things look like they are going well here. I had to dig all the way back to page 13 and on to see what I missed.

The damned artificer, they are indeed the same logos from BoLS. They turned out awesome and I doubt I would even try to freehand them myself without being very unsatisfied. Got a new camera, I need to try new pics.

Ill get back to rocking 2nd squad asap and will advise, but I gotta strip them down since the primer was all clotty when I applied a couple weeks back.

I cant even begin to go back and say how awesome the armies are turning out so Ill start from now :)

I'm going to go ahead and apologize up front. I'm not going to be making the deadline. I've been overloaded with life stuff and hobbies fell by the wayside. I'm sorry I didn't really give a heads up. Now on the positive side, I have what I think is a pretty cool idea for my Night Lords company. I want to capture more of a hunter themed part of the legion. My company commander will have one of the Astral Claws lion shoulder guards converted to represent the Nostroman lion. The vast majority of the company will be compromised of those recruited from the outskirts of the hives and the settlements farther beyond where survival wasn't about living on the streets in a gang but actual survival where they prey were apex predators. I think it will fit in quite well in the VIII legion, especially with the kill trophies and the pack hunter mentality. I'm hoping by the end of the month to have the heresy era armour painted up and the squad completed.

Absolutely love it. Dirty, battle worn, you've made the Sons of Horus for me look awesome. How did you get that green and the weathering?

EC Tactical squad ready for war. Although Dargor's heresy marines are so nice and clean and i love them, I like my marines to look a lot more abused and worn. Not all people like this style but i do and it works for me. I never use to paint like this until my old friend Blake showed me his chaos army that was at the same time ugly and crude yet amazingly painted in a simplistic way that fit perfect for this game. Even though i was a better painter than him, and probably still am considering i doubt he plays anymore, I have to give a big thanks to him for that. My heresy army wouldn't look the same without inspiration from him.

I really need to get painting lessons, keep getting blown away by the stuff I see on here.

The transfers are done, just waiting for the last to dry and then I shall wash/varnish them (It will be my first time using quickshade, hope it works) and post the pics later today. It's really nice seeing everything coming together for the first deadline.

WORLD EATERS CYNDER ASH UPDATE NR.1

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x208/Totiskoti/SAM_0525.jpg

These are the bases that my first 5 guys are gonna be on.

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x208/Totiskoti/SAM_0527.jpg

Then we got a group photo of the pals. The one to the far left (the painted one without arms) is gonna be the seargent, he is magnetised so I can swap weapons on him. Then the guy on the far right (painted) he was my test model... He's gonna get repainted. All of them are gonna have magnetised backpacks so I can swap between jump packs or normal.

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x208/Totiskoti/SAM_0530.jpg

Sarge:

Close up of the sarge, His Mk. IV was made out of the assault marine torso with some cutting and greystuff.

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x208/Totiskoti/SAM_0528.jpg

Test Marine:

He was the first WE that i painted. I was going for muddy/dirty white but I failed. he is gonna get repainted and fixed. He has a Mk. IV from the Blood Angels kit.

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x208/Totiskoti/SAM_0534.jpg

Grunt 1:

Pretty simple. Mk. IV mad like the sarge's. Need to make the knee pads

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x208/Totiskoti/SAM_0537.jpg

Grunt 2:

Again a simple grunt. He has a Mk. V body armour, he is gonna get Mk. IV kneepads and the head is supposed to be a Mk. III ( I dont have any forgeworld things <_< )

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x208/Totiskoti/SAM_0538.jpg

Grunt 3:

Again Mk. V armour, he is getting Mk.V greaves thou, he was supposed to get a giant chainaxe... need to find that Axe head :)

Well that is all for now. I will probably update later today

C&C welcome

Constructive criticism: Darken your blue a little. The GW blue glaze im finding to be a god sent for that very reason. World eater seems to be a bit darker than the ultramarines. Its so very confusing because the shade of blue changes so much from art to art. The dark blue will contrast a bit better with the white. also the chainaxe eems to be held at a unnatural angle. maybe its just the photo.

May retouch the eyes possibly, and I am not sure how the legion symbol will wear, but I ma happy with them, I know they are not as mind blowing as everyone elses, but there is just something abut them that clicks :HQ:
Still no feedback from FW about those pads though.......
Just noticed where the wash has gathered under the transfers, I need to learn to paint that symbol

Say the 30th? Still not got the Dark vengeance models as my friend is still trying to decide about getting it (he is indecisive as anything)but could try doing my captain and librarian, or some of the guys I stripped.

Does anyone know where the gem central crux originated from, and wherever or not it was used by any one before the heresy? I am thinking I could get away with leaving it on the model (it is one of the nicest features of it) by claiming it was used before the heresy, but only in limited numbers by a couple of legions as we now have a reason/origin of the red helmets of Ultramarine Sergeants.

There are several references to a veterans crux in some of the HH stories, so I've chosen to go for it myself as technically it's only the crux terminatus (with the skull) that are post heresy on terminators, as the reason why every terminator wears them is because it was worn by a sergeant at the boarding of Horus's battle barge, who did exceptionally well, which in itself is another hint that the symbol was in use in limited numbers before the heresy :tu:

30th sounds like a fair date for the next deadline :) Should be possible to have some more models finished by then :)

FINISHED SoH Contemptor

Boom sauce!

http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m289/Sheep_06/Sons%20of%20Horus/IMG_0883.jpg

Two months after starting him, its finally done. I lost a bit of traction painting him when I fell out of love with the scheme, but the weathering really brought it back for me, turns out I can't paint anything clean with armour.

Sorry chaps, real life has been working me over! But game on for the 30th!!

Brother sheep, that thing is awesome, like, really awesome!! Great work!

Warspirit: lovely Angels there, great battle damage.

RPR: Really liking your Salamanders brother, just one thing if I may? Go with red eye lenses. I do like the blue but red would really make em pop, just my opinion of course so please do ignore my ramblings

As ever good work all!

Working on a EC assault squad. Ive been slacking because i just got heavy into Guild Wars 2, but I will start dedicating mroe time to my painting. They are almost finished. Im just trying to find a good way to gore them up a bit without them looking like WE's in purple.

Wow, I had worried interest had died for a moment then.. then I check a couple of days later and bam :)

With the eye lenses, I do see your point, but everyone does red eye lenses, but I can see why, so I may try different eye colors for each armour mark, though I do need to save my regal blue for my Thousand sons...

And thank you sheep, I was not going to try and save my student loan entirely, but no, you had to go and build and paint one of the most awesome Conteptors I have ever seen and even made me think of getting two, one for this thread and one for my sons, let's hope I don't decide to revamp my wolves with one whilst I'm at, so could no one else please for love of my wallet not do any more Awesome Contemptors :P

Found a salamadner whirlwind and a dread in the shed of Doom for the salamanders.

Thanks guys for the great comments about the contemptor, i have to say he rescued the army for me, up til I finished him I was despairing for the colour scheme and my interest was waning.

I have another contemptor to do RPR ;) Trying to figure out a cool pose for him in my head . . .
