Rune Priest Ridcully Posted October 28, 2012 Author Share Posted October 28, 2012 Well here are some work in progress shots of Captain, er Preator Jethro Ubaid of the Salamanders legion thirteenth company As you can see he has a far way to come yet, mainly tubing/wiring, that cloak and at least on other coat of warpstone glow before I can even think about high/lowlights and ect, but he is getting there at least. Not sure what to do with the cloak, I am certainly going for pure white on outer side, but not sure on the lining, should it be different? If so i was thinking either purple (to match his company colour) or a sky/electric blue. I'm aiming for an obsidian/stone effect on all the black painted bits, so was thinking possibly dry brush/very thin layer of dark blue mixed with purple and black, then with a dry brush of one of those to finish that, I'm thinking the orange gems/round bits could be an eye of terra, as that still seems to have been in use by the loyalists. Looks like you took a #2 brush to it.(sarcasm) I know everyone can't paint to golden Demon standards (self included) but if you have not done that already do so. A few 1,0,00,000 brush's are not hard to find or expensive. ( I use cheap cheap brushes) If you have shaky hands when painting ,eat something, or if already ate, find something you like to drink. It works for me when my hands are not steady. Colors look good but it looks like your applying the paint to thick in some areas. Maybe its just the picture. Constructive criticism over. Rune Priest Ridcully Posted October 28, 2012 Author Share Posted October 28, 2012 Thats the brush I used, must admit I will go and get some orange juice, and I have no idea what is causing the thickness differences, I thin my paints and I do make to mix them so all of it should be thinned, hmmm. MordentHex Posted October 28, 2012 Share Posted October 28, 2012 O crap, that brush IS to big for fine detail work. looks like a 1 or a 2. should try and invest in some a little smaller. Doesn't have to be GW brush's or another expensive brand. Something simple and cheap from an arts and crafts shop. Failing that..Walmarts. :P I usually use a brush that size for painting my bases. Word of advice, spend your £400 on something else from FW as I have now discovered that I'll never buy one from FW for myself, it's NOT worth the money.
