A tale of 20 gamers, a galaxy asunder.

Welcome aboard damned artificer!

Basically you can submit a 5-10 man squad or anything else, like a Contemptor, Primarch etc.

I just threw in the squad just so everyone has a basic "minimum" to go off of.

Hope that answers your question!

Thanks :) This will be fun :D

And yeah that sounds great, I have a growing force with a lot of different units planned, and Dorn is already under way so expect to see him at some point as well :D

Not going to lie, your fists are partly what made me decide to do a pre heresy army, and your Dorn is what makes me want to try my hand at Vulkun.

In other news, got my results today, PASSED FIRST YEAR, EVEN MANDARIN! which is a great relief, and also partly why even now I am forge world, with two sets of Iron armour in basket, debating about adding a set of corvus, and am trying to decide which bolters to get :) The fact I am also thinking of getting tartoros terminators either for the salamanders or my Thousand sons is proberly not good, but I'm getting money from helping with uni open days :P

Will proberly not actually order till tonight, so any suggestions please say, am thinking I should either have purly mark III or go for mainly Mk III with some IV and VI thrown in... It is going to be a drop pod army as well, so I'm looking on ebay as well :P

Nice to see the thread taking shape.

P.S With the 5 men squad minimum, is it okay to do a verhicle/charecters instead on a some months if we say before hand? Plus how big armies are aiming for?

I have seen a few armies with just MKIII and they look great. However, the other marks are good too, so why not just mix and match? Looking forward to the first update, even though I am an innocent bystander.

Hehe I'm glad you like them and I'd love to see what you do with Vulkan :D On the matter of the armour marks, why would you include Mk VI?? The corvus pattern wasn't introduced into the legions before very late in the heresy and in most cases not untill after the siege of Terra :) I'd go with Mk V armour instead if I were you :)

And I can happily announce that the tartaros terminator kit from FW is now being cast in the regular pressure cast way as opposed to the awful spin cast technique they originally used on the kit. I just got my replacement kit for my tartaros terminators today (which means I got 11 tartaros terminators for my fists) and the kit is no longer on my list of "do not buy" from FW, So I can only encourage everyone to buy the kit now :D

I have a soft spot for beakies, plus the few picture of Salamanders in Collected vision has them in it, so I figured they must have got the first experimental suits of that mark just before the heresy erupted, and so could have a few in the mixed squads. I have settled for having the majority of the army in MKIII, but with some squads that are a mix of II,III, IV, and VI. Possibly some mk V but I am not that keen on the helmet for that, and everyone in the army will have a helmet, even Vulkun if I do him.

I'm in if the Dark Angels become available.

Have at it dude, they're all yours. Should you be unable to continue at any stage, I'll jump back in, but for the time being I really do have enough on my hobby plate.

Cheers,

Jono

Yeah go for it!

I figured we could keep it open to anything but at least have a minimum for everyone to work with. Also the size of each force is up to you. You can shoot for 1,000 points or even 2,500!

Ok added mikhail, Toxichobbit and Gawain Veteris welcome aboard guys!

Rune Priest Ridcully, Post 1 - WIP Salamanders

I have ordered two sets of Iron armour and a set of phobos bolters, and am looking on ebay for drop pods, held off on the terminators and getting some bits for my Thousand sons as to not make it to big an order, will wait till after these guys are done before ordering anymore, and I suspect when I do I may order two sets of tartoros terminators, one for the salamanders and another for my Thousand sons
Also, quick rummage in the smaller bits box that I had not packed away gave me enough bits for this guy
gallery_49955_7416_490745.jpg
He will be in the mixed squad, which will proberly be made up by my bits box and possibly some of the first marines I ever got, who until now have been languishing in storage due to their bad paint jobs who shall be stripped, refitted with new helmets if needed and repainted. (Is it okay for models on this to be old ones you have stripped down?)

@ warspirit: You can start at any time. Rune Priest started the deadline for August 31st so everyone would have time to gather all they needed.

@ Rune Priest: Dude you forgot the brackets before and after the code [ ]

Love the old pewter armour sets!

So just to clarify, am I right in saying that the minimum contribution is five finished models/ vehichle or otherwise equivalent per month? Apologies if I have got the wrong end of the stick.

Nope you are definitely correct.

As long as you contribute at least one 5 man squad your part of the motivational thread.

Again you do not have to do just a 5 man squad, you can do a vehicle, a large Primarch character etc instead.

You can even go above and beyond and do a 10 man squad with transport.

Its all in your hands on how much you want to do every month as long as you contribute.

Trying to keep it from being super restrictive, hence strengthening the motivational aspect.

Fixed it, and yes I love them as well, have a fair few in my old space wolves as well as spare, the mixed squad is going to feature them heavily as not to have a few guys in each squad smaller then the others. Anyone know a good source for preheresy/regular salamander names?

Ahh yes the beakies are nice, butin the new heresy fluff the raven guard are the first legion to have the corvus armour and that is due to their collaboration on some design aspects and tests :) And I know that there's a lot of beakie helmets and other stuff in the collected visions book that is incorrect, but it was originally released as a collection of 4 separate artbooks from the HH card game development and predates the HH novel series. Also due to a fairly less strict approach than the new HH stuff and a lot of freelance artists on the project, a lot of the images have incorrect armour types like mk VI, VII that were first introduced to the legions after the heresy, and it mainly appears on pieces by artists not usually associated with GW artwork which are probably from sabertooth games (which if I remember was the name of the company that produced the card game under a GW licence, with heay influance from the existing GW art team)

The book is however still a must have for any HH fan, and I wouldn't depart of mine for anything as despite of the few errors it is still absolutely amazing :)

Also the old mk II pewter model is awesome mate ;D

Man a lot has changed since yesterday! Glad to see this thing taking off!

Rune Priest your old school marine looks great, and the FW Mk4 arms definitely fit! Please tell me you are going to be doing the more Olive colored Sallies from the Collected Visions book as opposed to the currentt bright green? Gives the Salamanders a darker grittier look which fits the Heresy IMHO.

Currently I'm rereading Legion for inspiration, so not an official update yet but I figured id let you guys know what my plans for this army are.

I'm planning on my HQ choices being a Librarian and a captain. The Libby will surely be a Sevrin Loth conversion, and my reason for his inclusion is I figure the Alphas would disregard the Council of Nikea and use whatever resources they had at hand, such as psychic astartes.

1

The captain will be in Tartaros pattern TDA armor, along with an escorting squad. He may just be Sheed Ranko from Legion.

Troop wise, I think I'm going to stick mainly with Tactical squads in Mk 4 armor, maybe with a few prototype armor pieces and weapons strewn

throughout. I'm going to be going with a "modern warfare" them with these guys, so lots of carried gear and optics on weapons, and silencers.

Anyway. That's my initial thoughts for the XX legion, looking forward to everyone 's armies!

WarSpirit, Post 1 - WIP IX Legion - Blood Angels 5 man assault squad

Ok so let's begin. This is my five man squad for the tale of 18 gamers. A good old jump squad consisting of 3 MKIII armor with heresy jump packs from chapterhouse studio and 2 MKIV with jump pack from the sanguinary guard set. The picture doesn't do credit but maybe you can noticed that i cut of all the armor plating of the MKIII set arms to fix them on my close assault arms. I will edit my post with other pictures to show the detail.

I've started this army a while ago, almost all of my stuff is now built and got some stuff already painted so i tought it a good idea to show what as already been done.

Ahh that's awesome :) I am unfortunately swamped on my current projects but it would be cool to do 2 legions XD But I'll just stick to the fists :)

I'll have an update up tomorrow to give an idea of the work already done, and what I plan to have finished :)

Now it's back to the painting table! :P

nice Bllod angels, especially the battle wear, how did you do that? Would like to try that on some of my guys, to show the effects of Isstvan.

@Talphus: I am going for the darker scheme in all probability, I'm aiming for them to be similar to keith's salamanders http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...anders&st=0

Lets begin with, I hate resin.

Ok so I modified a heavy bolter a little and made it more compact and friendly for the carrier. Without designated Devs I imagine they had to figure something out to keep up with their brothers. So, here it is, good, bad, adjustments? I dunno how itll end up, not complete quite yet.
