Iacton Qruze
This weekend, I played the Eye of Terror apocalypse narrative track at WargamesCon. Bjorn ended up becoming a pivotal hero, after using a librarian to gate to a location where a khorne defiler was attempting to tear down and debase a statue of the Emperor. After the librarian slew the defiler with a shooting attack, Bjorn retook the statue and attempted to hold it against all comers. The librarian immediately died, and Bjorn was immobilized by a shot from a Tower of Tzeentch, far behind enemy lines, at which time a Daemon Prince of Khorne assaulted him and tore his claw off. Bjorn proceeded to beat the prince to death with his plasma cannon, one wound at a time, all while also being stunned each round. When the dust finally settled, Bjorn stood victorious over his adversary, only to meet a redeployed traitor gunline attempting to end his hold on the holy statue. 5 lascannons and 2 blasts from Baneblade cannons struck home against him, but he was not meant to die here, and none of the penetrating hits got past his invulnerable save. The game ended with the Bjorn having carved a new deployment zone out for my Space Wolves, independent of the other imperial deployment zone, but the Wolves had also drawn the ire of nearly all of the Khorne contingent (about 4500 points of berzerkers, daemons, and superheavies against my 3000 points of wolves). The final battle saw Bjorn and his contingent of Revered Fallen, along with the Wolflord Bran Solfang and his Thunderwolf Cavalry, charge headlong into the Khorne line. The fighting was brutal, but Bjorn did not flinch, immediately engaging a Skull Tower of Khorne. He tore it's armor plates asunder and struck the power core, causing an apocalyptic explosion that felled Khârn the Betrayer. Bjorn's invulnerable save held, protecting him from the blast, but he was immediately assaulted by a Bloodthirster who immediately (can you believe it?) immobilized him and tore off his power claw. Bjorn (again) beat the bloodthirster to death with his plasma cannon, and was being repaired by an Iron Priest when the game ended, another traitor superheavy less than 6" away from him and ready to be torn apart had the game gone another turn. It was a total of 3 games, and though Bjorn spend most of it stunned, immobilized and in close combat without his power claw, he never died, in spite of the best efforts of the Chaos forces, and always either drew or won his combat. Kassill
What a saga! Bjorn is by far one of my favorite characters and stories like these make me want to build one soon and field him! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254667-today-bjorn-killed/#findComment-3094722 Share on other sites
Imperial Deceit
Bjorn is one tough cookie, I have really only killed him out of luck. It requires so much firepower to bring him down. If they do add structure points for vehicles in 6th then he will be even harder to get rid of. Jonny Wolf
By the way - did you have that epic Bjorn model you made out on the table regulating chumps or do you use a stand-in for games? I would have to imagine many faces were melted that day at the mere site of your Bjorn model's awesome-sauce. Iacton Qruze
Yes I used my custom Bjorn model... He's just a gaming model for me now. You know what they say: painted models do better on the tabletop. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254667-today-bjorn-killed/#findComment-3095629 Share on other sites
