6th ED and How We See It Changing Our Lists

Recommended Posts

No I cant read, WS5

I see you missed out on those tutelary engine lessons.

Ah well, its not like you need to be able to read reports or any such Imperial administrative nonsense like that among the Vlka Fenryka.

I must/may have missed it but TWC get the hammer of wrath special rule. Quite delicious. A small pack of TWC could really put a hurt on some things.

BC bikers too it would seem

Indeed. We are blessed with choice. I'm in love with too many mistresses!

----------------------

Also has anyone taking a good look at the psychic powers. There are few Biomancy ones that look great and can really buff a semi lackluster Rune Priest,

Indeed I can't decide what to try first my twc biker list or my rp heavy list....

Really torn between divination and biomancy as well

Agreed on the two. I like the D3 strength and toughness biomancy for upping the power of the Runepriest and of course the divination where it gives your pack normal BS for overwatch.

Question as I wasn't able to pick up my rulebook yesterday due to work (getting it after my shift today though, along with the Finecast Rune Priest, which has an axe doh).

Are any of the new psychic powers we have access to handy in helping an infantry based force survive? Because that's the issue I had in 5th (along with maybe too many toys on packs when I need bodies).

I see maybe switching my high strength weapons, so Power Axes and Fists onto regular troopers with the Wolf Guard getting Power Weapons, Wolf Claws and the like to help them in challenges, which I won't be declining.

Hmmm Biomancy D3 str spell on a unit of thunderwolves... with at least one power maul. my maths could be off .. but isn't that a normal initiative st10 attacks with concussive and rending?

The TWC Rending is only for basic attacks, it still won't combine with special close combat weapons.

And you have your long fangs with flakk missiles

No you don't. Flakk missiles are UPGRADES for units that can take them. Until they start FAQing units or releasing a WD article, nobody has access to them yet. All Missile Launchers only get Frag and Krak standard.

Ah! It's like stormshields and DA isn't it?

I'm sure that this will be covered in faqs

And I don't mind about not to charge con arrival with my scouts, They always killed more shooting than HtH. I like to give them plasma pistols.

So I've reread the relevant sections and gone through the Weapons Appendix and I believe I was mistaken.

The Missile Launchers heading in the Weaponry section outlines as a blanket Missile Launchers of all kinds, regardless of what the specific name is. This would include Cyclone Missile Launchers and Typhoon Missile launchers, for example.

Looking in the Weapons Appendix, it's clearly listed that Cyclones and Typhoons only get Frag and Krak standard, while stock Missile Launchers also get access to Flakk.

So Long Fangs DO get Flakk and I've suddenly found an excuse to paint my two 6-strong MissileFang packs...

Also, kudos to GW for writing a fairly comprehensive book that seems to leave very few grey areas and unclear sections. Coupled with the new FAQs they've released for every book, it looks like they're really covering all their bases.

I do not have the rule book yet. Nor have I played a game since second edition. I was planning on getting back into it with my son and have slowly been building my army the past few months.I was wondering from a modeling stand point, Do chain axes count as close combat weapons like chain swords do or did that change? I know they are not power weapons so I am just trying to make sure I don't get a bunch of grief over them. I have used the chain axes on my skyclaw pack just so that they looked different.

No, as far as I can tell, Close Combat Weapons (whether they be chainswords, axes, chain axes, hammers, maces, staves, knives, etc) use the same profile (Users Strength, - AP).

Only when you use them as a Power Weapon or Frost Weapon (Blade or Axe) do they change in their rules.

It only look them 25 years, too!

Sums up my opinion perfectly. I find it blatant ignorance to insist on another FAQ for army specific costs when the BRB clearly lays it out.

Missile launchers very clearly do NOT come with flakk missiles default. Please read that part again in the book, it is not rocket science, it is spelled out in one simple sentence.

That said, boy do I wish that they DID some with flakk missiles...
