I want to make anew scout unit.

 

2 with gunslinger plasmapistols

 

For the scouts, do you mean BP + PP or PP+PP? The wolf guard entry says replace bolt pistol AND/or close combat weapon... I'd assumed that's the reasoning that allows us to equip two PPs.

 

For the scouts it's just "up to 2 scouts can take a plasma pistol, X pts per model".

Yes and the faq let us take pp and power weapons on two models. :)

At least the Ulrik model comes with Plasma Pistol - I might be using him as generic WP, since something in me resists the idea to chop apart the Limited Edition Sternhammer Wolf Priest with bolt pistol...

It allows us to take two plasma pistols on two scouts. expensive but cool :)

Having just finished building 20 Wulfen Guard ... can I just point out how amazing Sternhammer's Wulfen Guard units are now?! I know it's apoc, but a wolf priest in runic armour + plasma pistol with preferred enemy, and 60 wulfen attacks on the charge at ws5, str5 rending with fleet and outflank makes that a sick unit!!!

Hmm, there are so many nice little things that you can add to a GH squad so far. Here's what I'm liking the look of on paper.

 

Foot sloggers: 10 GH, 2x plas, power axe, MOTW, wolf standard, WGPL /w TDA, LC + combi-plas.

you get some nice rapid fire pew-pew and pack a serious punch in melee, too. The wolf guard helps with some plasma goodness and kicks anything in power armour with duels, and the WOTW + power axe give you the means of not completely folding the first time a 2+ save unit comes your way.

 

Melta rush:

5 GH, 1x melta, WGPL /w LC + combi-melta. Las/plas for transport.

Some melta to ferry to where it needs to be quickly.

 

Plasma rush

5 GH, 1x plasma, 1x plasma pistol + bolt pistol, WGPL /w 2x plasma pistols. Las/plas for transport.

Move vehicle 6", disembark and move unit (=a total of 14" for the occupants) and then make 7 plasma shots in 1 round (two of them twin-linked; and you also get a snap shot with the lascannon).

 

I'm unsure whether to throw a power axe/sword, MOTW, or wolf standard into the razorback squads. The plasma rush squad in particular is extremely likely to be charged if they disembark right next to some terminators and start shooting plasma at them from <6" away... don't really want to load too many points into 6 power-armour wearing models, however. So I'm inclined to leave as-is.

Ok so I have read through alot of this thread but not all so don't flame if you guys have discussed and discarded this. In the Space Wolves codex a wolf guard Terminator comes with a power weapon and a storm bolter. You can remove the storm bolter and a buy another power weapon. So what if you had a power sword and a power axe? Neither of these has the specialst weapon rule. So could you concievably have 4 attacks on the charge with either a Str 5 AP 2 Int 1 weapon or a Str 4 AP 3 Int 4? You would have to choose of course but if I read the rules right then this is legal.
Ignore me....I read the damn codex wrong...been playing them since rogue trader, you would think I should have this stuff memorized. You can buy multiple frost weapons not power weapons. Very costly.

 

Yeah, you're right, you can't do that. What you could do, however, is get a wolf claw and power fist... that would achieve the same thing you were getting at. Moreover, wolf claws are better than power swords, and power fists are better than power axes. That said, it's about 53 points per model. But when you compare it to 2x WC termies at 48 pts per model, I think it's the superior option. 5 points for the ability to switch to dual wield power fist mode? Probably worth it...
