6th ED and How We See It Changing Our Lists

hehehe

Oh wait... we can't throw meltabombs but krack F6 FP4 yes.

BUuUt, we can use meltabombs against MC in HtH.

So we can shoot Plas/Melta shots + 1 krack grenade

And fight using melta bombs or krack grenades in Hth against MC or vehicles: 10 GH 10 F6 FP4 attacks + maybe 1 F8 FP1 WG attack :(

and this is why swiftclaw bikers are going to be awsome. have 10 of them with a wolf priest and a full squad of SW and your re-rolling 11 hits against mosterous creatures!! or take saga of the beast slayer and your priest gets to re roll against MC and you can have preferred enamy against vehicles allowing you to re-roll your shots against vehicles aswell as your cc attacks making them a pretty good squad against vehicles and MC's.

I really like the idea of being able to lob grenades since it's what they're meant for. However, I find the use of meltabombs against MCs a bit unusual but hey who cares when you're reducing a Daemon Prince's face to steaming mush with a little explosive.

Acute senses now allows outflankers to re-roll the table edge they come in on nothing else.

Furious charge is +1 strength. Thats it.

Overwatch - one free round of shooting at anyone that is assaulting you (thats shooting with all your shots at your regular BS). Overwatch & Counter-attack will make us even harder to assault

Snapfire is for weapons that couldnt' normally shoot after moving - so a heavy bolter that moves shoots at BS1

Tank hunters let you re-roll to hit in shooting AND assault AND re-roll glance hits if you choose

Beserk Charge is no longer in the BRB - but Rampage is and it's the same rule. +2 Attacks.

From what I can tell - frost weapons remain +1Strength and are AP3

Dust off your Skyclaws and fix your Wolf Guard and Priests with Jet Packs - 2xD6 for charge distance wich can be re-rolled, then Jump Infantry get the Hammer of Wrath rule - 1x attack at initiatve 10 THAT HITS AUTOMATICALLY. Then resolve the remainder of the assault round as your normally would.

Tons more stuff...um...you can measure your range for your shooting and then decide which target to shoot.

Tank Hunter vs flyers - not sure.

However, if a unit...say...Long Fangs have missile launchers they now have access to Flakk ammo. S7 AP4 and has the Skyfire special rule which lets you shoot at your regular BS.

Oh...forgot to mention to our Thunderwolf brethren...

Calvary gets Hammer of Wrath too - 1x Init10 attack that hits automatically.

I dig that the jump troops will be usefull again! Does this apply to a Rune Priest with a jump pack and a Runic Weapon? Auto hit Leadership roll pass or instant death?

As per White Dwarf, Overwatch is a free round of shooting at BS1. Template weapons inflict D3 automatic hits.

At which point of whose phase is Overwatch resolved? Before your enemy declares charges? After? After charge moves? Also, what is the limitation on Overwatch? If my Rune Priest has enough power points left over to fire a psychic power, could he do so in Overwatch? Will he benefit from CotS during OW if allowed to use a power?

Flakk missile - does it come standard or will it need to be purchased additionally as wargear?

Don't dreadnoughts and Swiftclaws get Hammer of Wrath as well?

With people now actually having the book in their hands and releasing new information, I see Swift Claws, Sky Claws, and Wolf Priests making an appearance in my lists, and not just in fluff/campaign games.

With the new flak round for missile launchers, I see no need for fortifications or allies to fill my AA gap.

I see using a wider spread of HQ options. Not just my lord on a TWC with a rune priest or two, but also including the wolf priest now.

Overall, I see my competitive lists now being inclusive of a wider range of our model line then before which is a great thing. I am happy to see no need to include flyers in our army and while people are crying doom of mech, I still see it as a viable build when used wisely. I know my new army lists will be much more fun and dynamic due to 6th edition.

Anyone that is jump infantry gets this rule. It hits automatically. I'm pretty sure you'd still have to roll your force weapon rolls though.

1. Once the enemy declares their charge and nominates the unit it's charging. Before Assault moves are made.

2. RP - not sure. Here's what it says, "Overwatch is resolved like a normal shooting attack (albeit one resolved in the enemy's Assault phase) and uses all the normal rules for range, line of sight, cover saves and so on. Unlike a normal shooting attack, Overwatch cannot cause Morale checks or Pinning tests. Any shots fired as Overwatch can only be fired as Snap Shots (BS1). Therefore weapons and models that cannot fire snap shots cannot fire Overwatch.

Snap Fire (Shots) cannot be fired with SOME template or Ordnance or with special rules like Blast.

Psyker Witchfire states that it "...counts as firing an Assault weapon (unless otherwise noted).

So...I would say yes, you can.

Let the rules lawyering begin.

3. It comes standard: Fragg, Krak and Flakk

4. Bikers have Hammer of Wrath and Relentless

5. If Dreadnoughts are now Monstrous Creatures, then yes they get Hammer of Wrath.

Dreadnoughts as MCs? Awesome, hopefully that 'tis true

There was something I wanted to ask but I completely forgot what it was, though another, can you please describe *exactly* how psychic hoods work now?

EDIT: Now I remember it was regarding hammer of wrath and TWC, does hammer of wrath use special CCWs or is it just a normal attack at strength? (IE. do our TWC get rending on the Hammer of Wrath attack)

Dreadnoughts with Hammer of Wrath and a DCCW must be frightening... won't Dreads need more armor if they hit each other on 2d6 when checking to glance/pen/fail? Or did that change?

Also, quick question: I plan on using all SW's for my army, and I hear I get a second FOC at 2000 points. Is this at exactly 2000, or only when above (2001+)?

In addition, what rules if any are there for this second chart that you are able to provide, OP. Such as, 1 HQ, 2 Troops for the first and second, or 1 HQ, 4 Troops for the first, 1 HQ, 2 Troops for the second...?

Hold on brothers - I said if Dreadnoughts are MC. I don't think they are. And I don't see them getting Hammer of Wrath in the Walker section of the BRB either.

Ok,

at 2000 points, your FOC goes to this:

12x Troops

6x Fast Attack

6x Elite

6x Heavy

So, theoretically, at 2000 points you can now start fielding 12 packs of GH. Enjoy.

Thank you, OP.

Will be checking back later or my own book once I get it as to the Dreadnought and Monstrous Creature call to settle it for myself. Likely the OP can answer the question first; I just like the feel of a good book to go off of, myself.

Combined the threads of what Johnny read and how we will change our lists.

Thank you, brother.

Maybe I missed this, but does the Jump infantry I10 auto-hit apply to I1 weapons? So, could I have... say... 5 jump pack wolf guard smack with 5 powerfist attacks at I10?

"...the model with this rule...makes one additional attack that hits automatically and is resolved at the model's unmodified strength with an AP of -"

So, yes they hit at I10, but they use their normal strength so no to it being a PF attack..
