Kewl Imp
I just started the whole miniature war gaming scene and currently working on my Dark Angel Army. I bought a few paints, some from the old ling and some from the new. One of the types of paints is called Layer. Is that suppose to be above or below the basecoat? How am I supposed to use that kind of paint. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254761-types-of-paint/ Share on other sites
henrywalker
base paints are thick, pigment heavy paints and are generally a first coat. Layer paints are "normal" paints and can be used to blend highlight and generally paint your miniatures dry compounds are gelatinous pigment heavy mixes used for dry brushing shades are the same as inks used to be (but way better) glazes are very thin shades to add richness to a colour textures have grit in them to give them a rough finish hope that helps Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254761-types-of-paint/#findComment-3097040 Share on other sites
Kewl Imp
It does, makes a little bit more clear for me. Its my first army and when I field them I want them to look good. I think I may need to water down or thin the layer paint which is weird because I didn't need to do that for the base paint to look good. henrywalker
you might want to water layers down a little but the base paints you generally won't need to, try making your own wet palette, they work wonders Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254761-types-of-paint/#findComment-3097061 Share on other sites
