Ferrus Manus
Hey guys, here's where I'll put all my WIPs for my DIY chapter the [Don't have a name yet]. I know they sound scary right ;) But anyway, here's my Chaplain. I need to figure out what to put on the chest. Suggestions would be welcome :) http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff265/Ferrus_Manus/Warhammer%2040k/Imp%20Guard/IMG_0430.jpg http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff265/Ferrus_Manus/Warhammer%2040k/Imp%20Guard/IMG_0431.jpg and something less power armoured, a very WIP scratchbuilt Inquisitor I'm working on, I'm pretty much working out proportions at the minute: http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff265/Ferrus_Manus/Warhammer%2040k/Imp%20Guard/IMG_0432.jpg Cheers. Hyaenidae
Not bad so far, I love the helm you're using (Grimaldus, right?). I'd save the chest until you nail a name/ theme for your army, then incorporate it into his chestplate. This will give your Chaplain the feeling like he is the very spirit of your army, clad in flesh and ceramite. All the bits look great on him, not too over done, which is a flaw many fall into (myself included, lol). Something about the pose of the legs is bugging me though... it almost looks like he's got to urinate real bad, and he's trying to get the battle over as quick as possible so he can find a latrine. Then again, it may just be the camera angle, and I'm blind, lol. Looking forward to seeing how this fella progresses, keep up the good work! Kierdale
I agree with Heathens, his legs need to be a bit further apart. The knees at least. Other than that he looks very good! Ferrus Manus
@ heathens, the head is from one of the stock Chaplain models. I think it's the one with the Plasma Pistol and studded shoulder pad. I think it must be the photo angle, the legs are fairly well spaced (at least, it looks ok in person) Anyways, an update: First up, my test mini for my DIY Chapter the Woe Consuls. I'm pretty happy with it. Though, I'm always looking to improve my technique so any comments would be appreciated: http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff265/Ferrus_Manus/Warhammer%2040k/ammobunkerupdates/IMG_04531.jpg http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff265/Ferrus_Manus/Warhammer%2040k/ammobunkerupdates/IMG_04551.jpg I do have a sergeant undercoated at the moment, though it isn't really worth showing. But here's one of my favourites I finished building the other day. he just needs some GS tabards and other cloth and he's ready to paint: http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff265/Ferrus_Manus/Warhammer%2040k/ammobunkerupdates/IMG_04621.jpg Oh and here's something else. A WIP Traitor marine for my own Tzeentchian warband, the Changeborn: http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff265/Ferrus_Manus/Warhammer%2040k/ammobunkerupdates/IMG_04561.jpg ++++++ That's all for now. C&C welcome :) EDIT: Oh damn. I did crop the images in photobucket but it seems to be playing up. Tyrannicide
Simple yet well executed scheme, Ferrus. Big fan of your Chaplain conversion, as well as the sculpted tabards. The finished Marine's helmet is reminiscent of the Witch King from LotR - aka badass. What is the Chapter symbol? I can't quite distinguish it... Brother Argent
Woah Ferrus, didn't realise you were taking a walk on the painting side of things. Nice job on the marine. Very similar to a scheme I am working on at the moment too, except I am doing all the way to the dreaded white scheme... Neat conversion work too, I will be keeping an eye on this. Ferrus Manus
@ Darth - cheers pal. The symbol is 'sposed to be a scroll with a single black tear drop. It was kind of a 'I need a symbol to paint, what comes to mind' moment. @ Phoenix - trust me, it's rare for me to paint something. I'm more of a convertor, but that test model got me stoked about painting some of these guys... so we'll see. What white recipe are you using? I've got a half finished White Consul lying around, I'll get a pic up if you want to see the white. Cheers guys. Brother Argent
Currently experimenting with the white as it has always been my bane. Got a neato recipe from heathens that he used for his Star Phantom base decor. Gotta finish the E Tenebrae Lux before I start getting too much into it.
