RookBartly
Battle Report Sister of Battle Army List: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=254705 Chaos Army List: Daemon Prince, 2 Dreadnaughts, 1 Defiler, 2 Squads Khorn Berserkers in Rhinos, 1 Squad Chaos Marines, 2 Obliterators Mission: Armies are split into 3 groups of 500pts. Players take turns placing a marker anywhere on the field for each group. After all marker are placed, players reveil what each group has and deploys within 6" of marker. Reserves are deployed from random table edge. Victory is determined by Kill Points. Deployment: Chaos won initiative and opted to let Sisters of Battle Deploy First. Chaos deployed fully to field, Sisters deployed 2 of three groups holding both dominion squads and one Battle sister squad in reserve. TURN ONE: The hate-filled army of Chaos landed upon the field surprising the unsuspecting Coven of Battle Sisters. Before they could react to the presence of the Khorn believers, they were already besieged. Pushing their forces right toward the sisters they unleashed a fail of heavy weapons fire. One of the massive dreadnaughts Laz-Cannon sweeped is beam throw a rhino wrecking it. The demonic Defiler focused itself on heavy bolter laden Retributor squads. The thunder from its cannon could make ears bleed. The blast engulfed the Retributors sending their bodies flying leaving one sole survivor staring at the ruined corpse of her fellows which proved more then she could handle as instinct took over and she fled. Undaunted by the focused beam that wrecked their transport, the Battle Sister piled out to face down the vile forces of Chaos that have descended upon them. Seeing their Sisters readying for the fight, the other squad drove their Rhino right over the massive boulders on the field to come to their aid. They filed out and stood their ground beside their faithful sisters. They released a fail of fire upon the charging Chaos Rhinos returning the favor by wrecking it the same. The now exposed crew of the Exorcist released their own attack on the Defiler. The blessed ammunition slammed into the Defilers hull but it proved tougher then they thought. TURN TWO: The one of the fallen Marines spotted the flutter of a cloak from behind the gold and silver adorned Rhinos. Realizing the Canoness must be taking cover there, they plowed full speed toward the rear of the Rhino only to be surprised at what they saw. Before them bathed in the holy and righteous light of the Emperor stood not a canoness but St. Celestine herself. Realizing who was there, and their chance to kill one of the greatest servants of the Immortal Emperor of Man, they signaled one of the dreadnaughts. The crew of the ruined Rhino piled out and face the two Battle Sister squads. They drew weapons and charged into the mist of the true-believers. The words "BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!!" echoed across the battle field as they changed. They smashed into the Battle Sisters with great murderous intent. One of the dreadnaughts heard the words and charged in as well. Using the full force of its huge weapons, it ripped into the armored women. As the dreadnaught torn several of the Battle Sisters to shreads, the Berserkers slaughtered several more. Overwhelmed by the assault, both squads realized they needed to fall back. The dreadnaught would not let this happen. As they fled, it continued its attack slaughtering all the retreating women. The second squad of Battle Sisters broke from combat before the Berserkers could stop them. After putting some distance between themselves and the berserkers, words of their pledge echoed in their minds. Taking up firing positions, they sent a hail of bolter fire into the Berserkers that killed their friends but only two of the hate-filled marines fell. St. Celestine, upon seeing the heart of her troops joined in. Pointing her sword, the Ardent Blade, at the Berserkers she recited Holy Scripture. A wave of fire burst forth from the blade and washed over her enemies. Engulfed in ricious fire one after another burned. It heat so great it left nothing in its wake. While the berserkers reeled from that attack, she charged in. We brilliant weapon creating a shining arc in the air as it swept down upon the marines. Unable to stand against the power of the attack, the last of the Berserkers fell to her attack. TURN THREE: The chaotic dreadnaught swung its laz-cannon around to face St. Celestine. The beam from the cannon hit her squarely in the chest searing her armor and a whole clean through to her back. She fell to the ground in a heap of burnt flesh and metal. Seeing victory in reach, the other squad of Berserkers unloaded with mind to kill off the last surviving Battle Sisters. They rushed forward, bolt pistols sending a hail of rounds into the women a moment later they plunged their weapons into the flesh of several of them. The Battle Sisters were forced back by the onslaught. Unable to stand against the attack, they retreated. The Berserkers seized the chance and did not stop their assault massacring the fleeing women. As the last woman of the Battle sisters died, the burn corpse of St. Celestine began to glow with a soft light that got brighter and brighter. Her wound washed away in the light as if it was sand on a beach. Her armor reshaped itself to its former glory. The brilliant light vanished as she stood again and turned her gaze to the Berserkers that just slaughtered her people. She pointed her weapon at them and they too were engulfed in fire. As the fire disappeared, only half of them still stood. She leapt toward them with her holy weapon. Her speed was as blinding as staring at the sun itself. She overwhelmed the surprised marines killing each and every one. Unaware of what was going on, the Exorcist continued its attacks on the Defiler. This time the blessed weapon found its target. Each of the six rockets slammed into the Defiler punching through its demonic armor. It slowly collapsed to the ground behind the Chaos Marines and the two Obliterators. TURN FOUR: Chaos Turn Four: Immobilized and destroyed the weapon on Rhino. With the lost of his Berserkers and the Defiler, the Daemon Prince turned his attention to the surviving Rhino. Enraged at the strength of a lowly human girl, he slammed the side of the Holy Rhino. The two Dreadnaughts followed the example of their leader and also unleashed their anger on the lone Rhino. One taking the Storm bolter of and the other putting a hole right through the Rhino's engine. St. Celestine with unwavering Faith in the God-Emperor charged forward into the Chaos Marines. Again releasing the cleansing fire from her holy Ardent Blade but these Chaos Marines knew what was coming and were able to protect themselves from her attacks. Only two fell before her might. As she blasted her wrath at the Chaos Marines, the Exorcist changed its target. After getting revenge for the two Retributor squads, the crew of the Exorcist targeted the Obliterators. A Volley of rockets tore out of the launcher tube hitting one of the Obliterators. The impact shook the ground pelting the other Obliterator in bit of his comrade. TURN FIVE: Overwhelmed with the wages of war and battle, one of the dreadnaughts unyieldingly hit the damaged Rhino. Seeing this, the other dreadnaught blasted its laz-cannon cutting the Rhino in two. With the destruction of the Rhino the crazed Dreadnaught finally ceased its attack. Understanding the danger of the Exorcist, the Daemon prince made a be-line towards it. The Obliterator tried to destroy the Exorcist but was unable to the massive amount of his comrade that covered him. St. Celestine continued to battle the Chaos Marines. She cut another Chaos Marine down with her holy relic. The Exorcist crew released another volley of rockets. Again they found their mark. The gore ridden Obliterator was completely vaporized in the ensuing explosion. As the Daemon Prince charged at the Exorcist, the scout patrol St. Celestine had sent the day prior returned. Seeing the grotesque Daemon Prince only yards away from the unprotected Exorcist, all of the arriving troops disembarked their transports. The Rhino fired a hunter-killing towards the inbound enemy rhino taking it out. Both Immolators fire their multi-meltas nailing the creature punching huge wounds into his body. He did not stop. He hideous creature face twisted in more anger then pain he eyed the new arrivals. Un-phased by the demonic stare, the two Dominion Squads and the Battle Sister squad fired every weapon then had. The sound of the four meltaguns were completely drowned out but the crack of the bolter fire that filled the air as all the Sisters held the triggers back. The Daemon Prince spread it massive demonic wings letting out a blood curtailing screech that would be heard for miles. Finally the creature of tremendous hate succumbed to the fire. It fell to the ground with a thud. Polythemus
You know ususually i say, pictures, pictures, pictures. But in this case i think i just have to say thank you. That was without a doubt the best written text only battle report i have read on these forums. Elegant descriptions and great imagery. That battle seemed well fought and gripping to the finish. I especially liked the descrptions of the khorne bezerkers and staint celestine. Excellent job.
