Frost weapon no more

Just remember, you can choose to use either weapon that you have in close combat. So if you go against a light unit, you can use a regular close combat weapon (your pistol), at regular stats and initiative. If you charge a hard unit, like termies, you can use your axe instead.

Isn't it that if you have a special weapon that is what the model must use over a normal weapon?

That was 5th edition. In, you can now choose which weapon you attack with. Since pistols count as CCW's now, you can choose to attack with that instead of a power weapon.

I'm going to make a thread, with quotes from the rule book.

So what's the consensus on the optimal loadout for a TW Wolf Lord? Frost blade and bolt pistol?

I'm not sure I wouldn't rather just take power fist or thunder hammer + storm shield. It's a tough one.

Does that model's Frost axe come as a separate piece? Hmm. I'm wondering what the best way to convert it would be. Converting the model would be a huge pity. It cost me quite a bit (NZ$81!!!!) and the axe looks quite nice.

There's a holstered bolt pistol in the TWC box set.You could strap that onto the saddle and remove the storm shield fairly easily.
