6th edition purgation squad FAQ

So our purgation squads FAQ specifies you can shoot at units without line of sight but does this also affect the requirement of line of sight for removing casualties?

RAW an opponent can argue that the power would not remove casualties that cannot be seen and instead it only allows us to shoot with models who have no line of sight themselves while as long as at least one can.

Meaning would could have one model out of cover while everyone shoots and we can kill everyone the single model has LoS on.

So does anyone else think this needs rewording?

Yeah, that could do with some clarifying, but RAI is pretty simple - No models need line of sight, and wounds are assigned to the closest model to the purgation squad first.

Yep, too easy.

The real question here is, does 6e bring any changes that actually make using a Purgation Squad worthwhile? It wasn't in 5e, and off the top of my head I don't see anything that helps them out in this regard.

IDK, I don't think the purgation squad was worthless, it was just the Psyfleman dread was about the most broken (pointswise) unit in the game (that honour falls now to the vendetta again I feel). The dread is as good as ever (and the closest thing we have to a good AA weapon outside the SR) and other units in HS got a boost. LRs are more survivable above melta range (and carry the now better terminator armour models) while dreadknights are S10 and eat light vehicles for breakfast. The only boost the get is that flamer's are better now they do interesting things on overwatch and against the buildings people can take.
