Stormbrow II
Meh. Logan's Axe is named so it has its own funky rules. His Wolf Guard have ordinary axes so they use the regular rules for Power Axes. That's how you explain it. For a few more days at least, until everyone decides to replace the hatchets with Swords or Fists. WSPatterson
To the person asking about modeling axes and playing them as swords, you will have to go all or nothing IMO. An opponent might get a little cranky if you start mixing swords and axes with the same axe model. So you're saying suck it up because Logan's situation is unique to him? Cool. No, I am saying depending on the patience of your opponent in trying to remember which of you axe bearing models are being played as blades and which of you axe bearing models are actually axes. Perhaps model in a way where some axes are axes and some axes are power weapons? I am more concerned with the following scenario, "Well these three wolf guard have frost blades and these three wolf guard have frost axes." A few turns later. "I thought that guy had a frost axe, why is he striking at initiative?" 'Oh, that was the other wolf guard with the exact same looking weapon but different stats....." I would be accepting if it was announced at the beginning of the game, "All icy painted axes are frost blades and all fiery painted axes are frost axes." Otherwise I am trying to keep track of your counts as army instead of enjoying the game. I can tell you, all of my axes will be blades. Because there is absolutely no point to using an axe. JamesI
This same argument is going on in the BA section over Dante's axe and the Glaive Encarmines. Now for Logan, my opinion is that if used as a Frost Blade it is a unique power weapon and there fore AP3, with the normal Frost blade rules. To me, its absolutely useless to say its a Frost axe, because you would almost always use it as a fist then. But this should be FAQed. eyeslikethunder
No where does it say the axe of morkai is a frost weapon. It is a unique item. It just states it maybe used as frost blade or a powerfist. For those saying it's axe why can I as powerfist then? Because it say I can use as a frost blade or powerfist It does not state it's frost weapon that maybe used as a powerfist It's simple RAW Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254984-logan-always-striking-last-now/page/2/#findComment-3103075 Share on other sites
Wispy
yeah I don't understand how this is so hard to wrap your head around. It says frost blade, so refer to the frost blade profile. Stormbrow II
yeah I don't understand how this is so hard to wrap your head around. It says frost blade, so refer to the frost blade profile. But it looks like an Axe, and says Axe in the name. If it looks like a duck, sounds like a duck... Herp Derp. It doesn't look like a powerfist either, but we didn't have trouble wrapping our head around that part of Morkai's rules before. Max_Dammit
Did they change the wording of the powerfist? If not the axe still strikes before the fist as a fist always strikes last where the axe is I1 I dont have the book yet but people keep thinking powerfists hit at I1 but they never did Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254984-logan-always-striking-last-now/page/2/#findComment-3103441 Share on other sites

Well, either way, they are now classified as "unwieldy" meaning I1, as are Frost Axes. Freman Bloodglaive
Power fists have been initiative 1 for at least two previous editions of the game. Power axes are initiative 1, and are only marginally more useful than a power fist. They get an additional attack as long you don't need a storm shield, but if you're going last you need either terminator armour (hard to get an additional attack) or a storm shield (no additional attack anyway). There is a reasonable argument for a Rune Priest in terminator or runic armour taking a runic axe as the 2+ save will help keep him alive until he gets to strike, but anything with a 3+ save will probably die before getting to strike. What is interesting is that specialist weapons include lightning claws and chainfists, so you can take a chainfist and a lightning claw and gain the +1 attack. I'm going to get the Tyberos model. :-) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254984-logan-always-striking-last-now/page/2/#findComment-3104154 Share on other sites
Gerwulf
I bought that new wolf lord on thunderwolf a while ago.. he has a storm shield and a frost axe (or power axe, depending on how you play it), which is a lot worse than TH/WC/PF and storm shield :( As for Logan, there is a box underneath the entry for power weapons which says, if you have a weapon with it's own special rules, it counts as being AP3 and you apply the special rules. I agree that Logan's axe is either a frost blade (+1S, AP3) or a powerfist. Loki-LaughingDeath
Funny that Runic weapons still are striking at initiative..... aside from all the GK shenanigans. This is one of the instances where you must suspend you preconceived notions. The Axe Morkai is a Frost Blade in spite of it's very axe like appearance and heft and blah blah blah because it allows the High King to strike as he sees fit with one hand or both when he is gonna fist somebody out of the Park.
