I've been playing 40k about 7 years, but always off-and-on, and never got serious about painting... UNTIL NOW! So I purchased a box of regular grey knights as well as some terminators, and more recently got a box of tac marines to go with them. We'll start with the regular GK's: I knew I wanted lava-themed bases, with the GKs fighting in a most hellish environment. Only appropriate for the Emperor's finest. Warrior-Poet Posted July 1, 2012 Author Share Posted July 1, 2012 So after painting those, I got back on the space marine train, with my interest piqued by the Star Phantoms from the IA10 book from forge world. I loved the all-white stormtrooper look, and figured it would look great with the same basing scheme I was rolling with on the GKs. Painting white was new for me, as my previous custom space marine chapter had been black, and the GK's were painted on top of black primer. For the time being, he's propped up on the GK grand master's base, as here in NC its far too hot and humid to prime the bases ive got made up for him. He still needs a little touching up (the skull on his backpack looks like a gold blob), and I've completed some weathering on him since last night when he was done, which is not pictured here. My goal is to expand the theme into some sort of display base, with more complete daemon models emerging from the lava. That will happen once I've got some more marines painted up and based.
