Allies to represent Wulfen

So, I have a bunch of the old Wulfen models and would really like to use them, so as the title says, which allies do you think will best represent the Wulfen character?

Currently I'm drawn to the Blood Angels death company. I can't remember, but aren't we Brothers in Arms so I could give them a Wolf Priest as well?

Does anyone have better suggestions for representing the Wulfen?

An ally has compulsory 1 HQ and 1 Troop. Since Death Company are Troops I am running my old Wulfen models as a 10 man squad of Death Company with no special weapons or jump packs led by a Blood Angels Chaplain loaded into a Stormraven Gunship. I get to use my Wulfen, a cool Wolf Priest I've converted to use as the BA Chaplain and I can use a Stormraven Gunship.

Why not use jump packs for the 2d6 assault range?

Well they wouldn't fit in the Stormraven then, it's pricey and isn't modeled on the unit. I prefer to stick to WYSIWYG as much as possible.

You still get a 2d6 charge range you just get to reroll it if you have Jump Packs.

Death Company with Lemartes = Stern with Wulfen

This.

although awesome, lemartes comes with a jump pack meaning you are pretty much doubling the cost of the squad - unless you just have him with a jump pack and everyone else foot slogging

having said this they are a pretty perfect stand-in for Wulfen, shame furious charge got nerfed :/

Precisely, I think its better to keep the allies representing Wulfen a bit on the cheap side so it doesn't detract too much from the rest of the army. Ideally I think it would be great to have a DC Squad led by a Chaplain in a Stormraven with a Death Company Dreadnought loaded aboard as well. A great, hard hitting ally that can be deployed in support of your Great Company's forces.

i read the DC entry in the BA codex after reading this and now im defiantly going to use the idea, one thing though what would be good GW models to use as Wulfen?

i say use these... http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/...Id=prod1320020a

Another idea, take some fenrisian wolves and smoosh them with Vampire Counts Vargheists.

These are my norse werewolves for me Bloodbowl army. kinda crappy pix. they have shoulder pads now but you get the idea.

GW plastic wolf cut right in front of the hind legs then reattached ontop to the hind legs with the back facing foward as the chest . Orc arms and some GS.

Many thanks brother

I just use Wulfen models, but then again I was fortunate enough to get my hands on 10 of them before they went out of production. You can still find them on ebay sometimes.

Ya i would to had i been able to get them but alas i was still a whelp when they went OOP so thats why i need to kitbasah em

Frankly a good kitbash is combining marauder or zealot parts from Warhammer Fantasy with assault marine components. Take a knife to the power armor to savage it up a little, give the guys bare arms and heads and greenstuff some shaggy hair and the result is more than passable.

i played at my club last night and i useed this

BA chaplin the HQ one

10 deathcompany

stormraven.

it was pure win, the stromraven came on at the start of turn three, fired its 4 weapons and stripped a grey knight razorback down to 1 hull point, the other 2 weapons hit a chimera full of stormtroopers and wrecked it killing 4 in side, which let my rune priest and grey hunter squad charge them and wipe them out.

Turn four, the stormraven swtiched to hover mode and stoped 9" away from the tau players HQ and body guard, who at the time had been chasing the Grey knight inquistor, the death comapny aka Wulfen got out, moved 6 inches and the roled 9" on there assault, the Tau overwatch killed one wulfen, but the combat which followed was a bloodbath with all tau dieing.

im now going to pick up a stormtalon to act as a supporting gunship to my drop poding grey hunters and there wulfen mates

Unless I'm much mistaken the Stormtalon is still limited to Codex: Space Marines, so if your taking BA allies you can't take a Stormtalon.
