Montuhotep
Right, as soon as I can resurrect my model-building aster the little fire that gutted my flat, I want to have a crack at a Talon, the idea I have for the base is the old cliche of a combat patrol over a ruined cityscape. The intention is to have the Talon above an enemy defence work that it has just cannon'ed the bejeebers out of. The image I want to give is a body on a barricade with twin lines of shell-strike heading towards him. Like the Stormtalon stitched the road surface with a pair of assault cannons before flying over what was left. Impact craters of such things are naturally at a slight angle to the surface, so drilling bullet holes straight down is not really an option. However, everything else I am at a loss on. So how do peeps suggest I proceed? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/255457-strafed-road/ Share on other sites
whiteraven17708
dremel with a burr bit or something similiar will let you establish a hole at a angle Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/255457-strafed-road/#findComment-3107969 Share on other sites
winterdyne
The effect will look different depending on what the surface is 'made from'. Concrete / hard skin surface will crack and shatter around the impact point assuming it penetrates. At acute angles it may only chip from ricochet. Aggregate (tarmac) will simply pock. Kinzel
Don't forget bolter rounds (and I'm assuming assault cannons' are similar just bigger) are explosive so if it doesn't glance it's going to make a nice little crater anyway. Ages and ages since I last posted but thought it would be appropriate now lol. Lucien Eilam
Assault Cannons aren't bolt weapons, they fire solid bullets. Apparently the M134 was cool enough it didn't need 40king up any further. Assault Cannons are described as firing hundred of rounds per second, so tens of thousands of rounds per minute. And the Stormtalon obviously has two mounted side by side. At that rate of fire, I would imagine it more carves a rough line across the ground than leaves discrete, separated bullet holes.
