Painting Celebrants

Recommended Posts

Hello all I am here for some tips and advice on how to best paint the celebrants chapter? I wanted to collect this chapter as my current armies use a fairly muted colour scheme and now I want to really try something different. So does anyone have any tips on painting celebrants? Or even just tips on fading paint colours? Do people rather use brushes or an air brush? I can paint to a fairly good standard but any help that the lovely B&C community can offer would be really appreciated. Lots of pics will follow but this force is more of a long term project due to their time consuming colour scheme.

Thank you all for reading.

You can certainly do it with a brush. You may get a cleaner transition with an airbrush but building up a "fire" like color is do able with a brush. I did it on a banner years and years ago:

All you would have to do is use reds and oranges and not add the yellows and little bit of white to get the Celebrants color.

Wow, Celebrants. I was just looking at their image in an old White Dwarf with the Armageddon chapters in it.

I think Kurgan's correct in that you could do this by hand, but I would strongly recommend that if you have access to an airbrush, that you attempt this with that tool. I think the transitions across the uneven surfaces would be challenging. Not to say that it could be done, but it is an amazing scheme to pull off and I think that in this case, an airbrush is better suited for the job.

Whichever way you go, I am interested in seeing what you do...and of course, they would look absolutely amazing on the table.

Cheers,

Oooh, I'll be watching this space...I've been trying to figure out how to do them as well. My Ghattana Bay army will have a dreadnought and 1 or 2 marines in this scheme, so I don't have to worry about re-creating it over an entire army. I was planning to use wet blending to achieve it, but an airbrush might make it easier. If you are doing a large force, it might be worth investing in a good airbrush to have a consistent blend across all of the models.
Hi guys thanks for posting and thanks again for your advice . Well it's going well so far but I'm not totally happy, obviously I want the colours to blend well and that is actually going ok but I think I'm trying to blend to many colours. I want them to be a real show peice so at the moment I'm over complicating them I think. I hope to add pics soon.
