Kevin48220
Based on a discussion in a separate thread, I decided to save $30 and make my own freakin' defense line. I had a bunch of leftover foam board, sprue, and various parts from a lot of Robogear stuff I picked up for doing conversions. A lot of glue/elbow grease and some vinyl spackling later, here's what we've got: http://i435.photobucket.com/albums/qq78/kpsaari/IMG_0292-a.jpg A mess, naturally. This is just stage one. I will be filling in the divots with spackling and then getting them nice and smooth. The Crusaders have a "Desert Gothic" feel to their color scheme and style, so I'm going to do these in a rusty red/brown color and have sandy bases. I will trim them in various metallic paints. The walls are pretty close to my estimate of the actual GW walls--4 walls that are 5" wide and 4 that are 2" wide, for 28" of total wall. For reference, this is my Chapter's color scheme: http://i435.photobucket.com/albums/qq78/kpsaari/IMG_0283a.jpg The quad gun in a bit more detail: http://i435.photobucket.com/albums/qq78/kpsaari/IMG_0291-a.jpg Like I said, this is made from Robogear parts I picked up cheap, set on a foam board base that I put sprue on to simulate machinery. It'll look much better once I smooth out the walls and get it primed. It's as close to the size of the actual GW gun (at least in height) as I could approximate from looking at pics online. Will post more on this project as it goes on, if people are interested.
