Rending and Vehicles

Hail Brother,

 

I'm going over AC and rending and started wondering. Since AP2 now gives +1 to the damage table, I was wondering if when I rend against a vehicle, would the shot be considered AP2 to get that nice +1 to the damage table?

 

From what I've read, it seems its not the case, due to the wording only stating that the shot is AP when rolling a 6 TO WOUND and not explicitly stating that when it covers vehicles and there +D3 to the pen roll.

That would be my reading of it too. Rending only grants AP2 against non-vehicle models which can be wounded, against vehicles it only grants +D3 to vehicle pen.
