landspeeders vs TWCs

Hile brothers, i'm considering troop options as per the title of the thread. It's between:

1) two landspeeders with 1 multi-melta and 1 cyclone each;

2) three TWCs with powerfist and storm shield.

the landspeeders were an attractive option 5th ed cos of their maneuverability and firepower, but with 6th ed and Hull points i'm not sure if it's worth it. the alternative to two landspeeders would be another squad of three TWCs, which have become more reliable and dependable, as is my understanding of it.

could someone advice me as to what to choose, or is there a better option entirely?

thanks in advance.

It really depends on the makeup of the rest of your army. Both options play completely different. I play TWC, and have long fangs and living lightning to open up the yum yums inside boxes. The land speeder are good for fast moving vehicles, but I do believe that vehicles can not hold or contest objectives any more so for contesting, land speeders are out, where TWC can hold in 1mission and if you have alord, you can get the warlord trait that makes him scoring.

But it really depends on the rest of your army.

Thanks for the advice man, i really appreciate it. I have about 2 squads of 8 GH and 1 squad of 7 GH, all in rhinos. 1 squad of 5 GH to hold home objectives. As for HQ i carry Njal in runic, and 3 squads of 4 MLs in las/plas razorbacks. For me I think that takes care of mobile firepower and scoring units.

I already have 3 TWCs with the same equipment though, hence my confusion. I'm not sure whether to increase my number of TWCs or go for different units like Lone Wolves, which I hear can issue challenges now, or maybe a fortification or two. Maybe a wolf lord?

Agree with everything here except that speeders can hold in the same mission type as TWC - its fast attack choices including vehicles unless they are immobilised I believe. Other than that, which changes very little, sound advice.

Both speeders and TWC have served me well - what syncs best with the rest of your force is the way to go. Both units have both gained and lost in 6th as far as I can tell so whichever appeals to you more I guess - they are both cool and effective units if used right. Best of luck with it.

Thanks Brothers Nostromo and Milez for your sage advice. I've narrowed down the options to two:

1) WL on mount, two fenrisian wolves, power armour, saga of beastslayer for monstrous creatures, PF+SS to be attached to my existing TWC squad. And an additional squad of 5 fenrisian wolves.

2) landspeeders as stated.

Seems to me both choices fit my playing style, fast attack units that are able to outflank and occupy/take out meaty units. But the WL edges it on account of its flexibility.

I'm entertaining the idea of taking out one lasplas, that LF unit of 4 MLs can guard home base along with my detachment of 5 GHs.

I'll test it out when I can, of course.
