Rune Priest, Chooser, Living Lightning, & Fliers

After reading a debate centered around signums and Snap Fire, it appears that our rune priests will be snap firing Living Lightning at BS2 rather then BS1 at fliers.

As I posted in that other thread. I don't think it will work. The order of modifiers, per the Multiple Modifiers rules on Pg.2, state the Multipliers come first, then additions/subtractions, followed by set values.

So the RPs BS would be modified by +1 for the Chooser, and then set to 1 by the Snap Shot rules.

where did you read that? We never had to roll BS to hit with living lighning. we just roll for a psychic test.

Incorrect. Living Lightning requires a roll to-hit for each of the d6 shots it gives after the psychic test is passed. It's not like Murderous Hurricane which simply gives 3d6 hits.

really? Is that something they changed in 6th? I haven't gotten the book yet. I don't recall seeing that in the codex or in the 5th ed. rulebook.

It has always been a Psychic Shooting Attack, and Psychic Shooting Attacks have always followed the rules for Shooting, including, unfortunately, rolling to hit. This is not a change in 6e, although it might be a change for you.

Edit: Did you ever wonder why we got those Choosers of the Slain? It wasn't so that we could hit better with our silly Bolt Pistols.

Valerian

Yeah we have to hit with LL. Though we don't roll for psychic shooting attacks in JotWW, that's where you might be getting confused.

I know people who still think you have to roll to hit with Jaws. Not sure how they think that, but some people still do.

Yeah, they need to read the FAQ. Been in there for a while now.

Chooser of the Slain:

Should the Rune Priest make a shooting attack at at target that has line of sight to the Chooser marker, he may treat his BS as one higher then normal.

What is the normal BS when Snap Firing at a flier? BS1

So I get to treat my BS1 as one higher then normal, BS2.

As I pointed out in the other thread -

Chooser adds to the firer's BS. Snap Shot sets the firer's BS to a set value. Per the Multiple Modifiers rules in the BRB, Multipliers come first, followed by additions/subtractions (like Choose), followed lastly by set values (like Snap Shot). So your order of operations is BS 4 +1 for Choose set to BS 1 by Snap Shot.

I have to say I agree with this. It's pretty clear in the sub heading "Multiple Modifiers" on page 2.
