frostclaw222
I've never really liked the way Devastator weapons are so clunky that they inhibit dynamic posing and actually make the figs look too static. Well, I was looking at the FW site the other day, saw the old Heresy devastator sprue, and got an idea. Those firing arms come as separate bits. What would they look like if the firing hand was on top of the weapon, and the weapon was being fired from the hip. I mean, astartes helms have heads-up displays with integrated targeting crosshairs anyhow, right? This would allow a lot more dynamic posing, including making it possible for Long Fang squads to actually model the close combat weapon or boltpistol they retain when they purchase their heavy weapon. Granted, the shoulder-gap in the weapons might need to be explained/modeled away, but I actually think Long Fangs firing from the hip might look really cool. Am I the only one who went this route? The_Chaplain
I think you are, but it's an interesting train of thought none the less. Personally, I'm planning to order some of the heavy weapons and use them on attack bikes. I really do not like the current swivel gun configuration they have. So, hooray for unconventional thinking?! frostclaw222
Well, with bikes being what they are now in 6E, I can completely see the merit in a full bike squadron for most marine forces, and I'll confess, the swivel mount hasn't really appealed to me--I've been building a Great Company for the last ten years or so, and I've never once bought an attack bike, and all my bikers are still unassembled. I may end up looking to see how my idea and your idea play together. I'm probably going to try dry-fitting a few ideas and see how it works for Long Fangs. I think, conceptually, they'd look a lot better and more mobile with the trigger box on top. A lot more like Jesse Ventura in Predator with the mini-gun--mobile, but just barely. Plus, it makes the jump to the arm-mounted assault cannon on TDA make a little more sense. Peredyne
You could mount them as underslung, easily. I have no intentions of doing so. I'm going to be modeling my Minotaurs dev squad with MkIII Iron Armor to make it look heavier, harkening back to the days of the old devs that were sculpted with heavier leg armor to represent stabilizers in the armor.
