Sourcing combat gear (pouches, grenades, knives, ammo packs)

Hi all,

 

So I've been trying to give my marines a more 'realistic' feel - I want to make them look like they could fight a war for weeks without needing to be resupplied, Captain Cortez style. To this end, each marine in the force should have a knife, copious ammo packs, grenades, a secondary weapon (bolt pistol) and (following my Chapter's theme) trophies from their best kills. Obviously the trophies are easily kitbashed, but I'm wondering - and I thought this would be the best place to ask - where I can get combat knives, grenades and ammo pouches roughly the right scale for a Marine? Any suggestions very welcome!

They might be a little small but have you looked at the IG stuff? Also, orks have some of that. If you want to go oversized, 1/35 scale works out to about 46mm and there is a ton of WWII models in that scale.

Are you saying you dont want the GW ones that come with the marines? If you dont mind GW's stuff, those bitz are cheap from eBay bitz sites, I've picked up 100 grenades for $1, pouches, large and small are just as cheap.

I've always found the GW scout kits have more grenades, pouches and stuff than I ever use.

Ork stuff is too big. I've used IG stuff before, and of course I don't have a problem using SM stuff but there doesn't tend to be enough equipment on the regular tactical sprue. I'll try eBay though, thanks ;)

I'm also going to be modeling my chapter with a much more realistic look as far as equipment is concerned, using the Spartans in Halo:Reach as an example. Thanks for the info!

The space marine scout kits, the Blood Angel death company kits and Impeial Guard all have good grenades and pouches

 

Ebay is your best bet, or the various bits sites. I use a particular ebay seller regularly and the service is top notch
