Warboss Runtpounda
Hello, my fellow 40k players! Just got my first pack of Spacewolves(Thunderwolf Calvary) and as it says in the topic description... I am an ork player! Or at least converter, I don't play much... ANYWAYS, I have chosen Space Wolves as my allies and second army! :) Really, they fit the orky ideals, although they are much more noble ;) I was drawn to them because of the awesome wolf mounts, but I'm sticking around because of the history!(provided matt ward doesn't get ahold of their next codex :( ) Anyways, I was wondering about a few things: 1. Can an independant Character(Runepriest or Wolf Priest in this case) on a motor cycle join with a unit of thunderwolf calvary? 2. So far my Army is planned to be Cannis Wolfborn, Thunderwolf Calvary, 2x Wolfpacks, and a Preist of some sort(probably on a cycle), and I'm wondering what else to build(Please suggest which ork model to convert, I'm having trouble fitting them squishy grotz in here, though boyz seem to work well! ;)) 3. Also considering: Bjorn the Felhanded, a Warlord on a Thunderwolf, scouts with sniper rifles, Lone Wolves, Drop Pod. Advice? 4. Do calvary models get that 'I10 Base Str Hit' in 6th Ed? Or is that only for bikes and jetbikes? 5. If I do take my Priest(shaman) on a bike... Will I be able to assault with the TWC and hiim at the same time? Bjorn is too slow for your army, warlord on thunderwolf can join TWC and is amazingly nasty, sniper rifles are beast in this edition, lone wolves are cool too, i always love drop pods/ 4. i believe they do 5. as separate units, yes you can. WLK WLK, actually I believe that they can. According to the codex and FAQ, there is no restriction on Independent Characters attaching to TWC; the only restriction is that an IC on a Thunderwolf Mount can only join units of TWC or Fenrisian Wolves. Ranges pair up nicely now (12" move, followed by a 2d6" charge). Warboss Runtpounda
Awesome! Thanks guys! And really I want Bjorn as a giant freaking target. Orks ain't quite as *ahem* respectful, so really I was gonna play him to smash some stuff up and then get shot down. Fearless on every unit in my army(Wouldn't play him as an ally I don' think, but maybe) is a pretty great thing, even if I do have to ship someone over there to hold him(grot snipaz anyone? Hide behind him and pew pew pew) Thanks for clearing it up, I was reading about priests and they seem great fun, only problem was he was slow, a bike fixes that and matches up FAIRLY well. I'll probably make it a cyberwolf with bike parts and stuff, just so he looks wolfy while on a bike still :( Like cyboars only with more fangs ;D Also I was wondering. If I'm playing with the new rules(I won't be for a while, none of my bros have them yet, and I kinda want to buy models instead of it right now >,>) I'm aware my Space Wolves(orks) can't hold objectives due to the 'can't score' ruling on our ally chart, but can my orks hold Bjorn? Like can I ship some grots over to it and 'defend' the fallen dreadnaught(deff dreadnaught ;D)? Heimdall Skullcrusher
Not sure on Bjorn. I know the wording of the FAQ says that he makes only Space Wolves fearless. It seems the FAQ also just treats him as an objective that can be held by the spaces wolves or the enemy. Also, what you are trying to do reminds me of this thread. Valerian
@Val: i thought the restriction went both ways, but i dont have my codex with me. oh well. WLK No problem. Common sense would dictate that it should, but there is nothing in the rules about it. Only the one-way restriction found in the Thunderwolf Mount rules in the Wargear section. Warboss Runtpounda
Well I got my squad built, I have to say... I'm surprised at how well the boar boy figs from fantasy fit attop the wolves. It looks nine kinds of amazing. Working on the Wolf Priest now, his bike... Is a horrifying amalgamation of ork warbike, thunderwolf calvary legs and head... And a boar's body. It's actually looking kinda... Beautiful in a twisted way. Should I post pics of the boyz and the priest? Warboss Runtpounda
I'm building a Wolf/Calvary army... Is the Wolf Priest or Runepriest better in this case?(I can use my 'Shaman' as either of them really, just hve to make sure they are of similar 'builds', making sure they have the same gear.) Still making it, but I woudl liek to be more certain, you know? Warboss Runtpounda
Wait... We cannot take special units as allies? And only one unit from each slot? D: Boo! Boourns! So this means I cannot use my kan'ead Waaaghborn(Cannis Wolfborn) on my team unless I'm using Space wolves as my main army? Warboss Runtpounda
Also, does the 'leader of the pack' rule for space wolves allow me to take 2 HQs if they are my allies? Just curious about what sort of builds I can do with my two(or one if you want to look at it that way) armies. :jaw: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/256054-new-to-space-wolves/#findComment-3117607 Share on other sites

Just curious about what sort of builds I can do with my two(or one if you want to look at it that way) armies. ;) Im pretty sure you can. At least i don't see why you shouldn't be allowed. you could go RP + WP on bikes in the TWC squad You could go one or the other plus canis or another RP or even a wolf lord on twc Heres an interesting idea for your elite choice : Iron priest (those big mekk i think they are called?) on a thunderwolf with Fenrisian wolves with grotts riding them :3 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/256054-new-to-space-wolves/#findComment-3117689 Share on other sites

Warboss Runtpounda
Alright before I start putting up my WIP stuff... I need opinons on this monstrosity. Kan'ead Waaaghborn is turning out 'well' by well I mean his mount is looking good, but he is sadly without form(Except one of his CCW, ill add pics of this thing when I start putting up Progress pics.) Now I need experienced Mek's opinions on: This is his 'Thunderwolf' its a Moonfang Calvary from WHFB, I was going to have a ogre as the ork himself, but... I didn't like hwo it looked(kept some bits though  ) Now I need to now... Should I keep the tusks?(Not glued in so I can work on the wolf muzzle) and add reins to them(Riveted in place) or use the slot to make normal reins? Also I know the detail Isn't great, but any advice on the continued greenstuff work? YOu can kind of see the line that shows where I cut off the awkward(wrong jointed and bent) leg, and will be making a cyborg limb for my beastie. Warboss Runtpounda
You tink you gots what it takes? We's seen tings you 'umies ain't neva thinked of seein'. We seen our Bosses riding wolves big, shaggy tings. We seen dem fight 'ard, and die 'arder. We sees. And we watches. We is the Snipaz. Da bosses... De tells us, we gots to sit back and shoot tings. We likes dis idea. We likes our new gunz. Da bosses say dey found dem, and dey's too puny for a proppa ork. But we ain't no orks. Wez Grotz. Wez Snipaz! We watches as our fellow grotz is slaughtered by some big fish'ead ting. We watches and we chuckles. Stupid. Shouldn't have fought. Shoulda runs, shoulda hids. We hids. We shoots. We kill Fish'eady ting. Da bosses tink wez on dere sides. We aints. Wez on our own side. Wez... SNIPAZ! So as you can see. Da grotz scouts(Snipaz) are nearing almsot full completion. Whats missing? The rokkit launcha needs bit more work, and one of the cloaks. That. Is. All. Trying to locate a nice camera, but so far no luck. However I am VERY proud of my mods! Very much so! Grot 1: Big Game hunter - Posed over a dead 'squig thing' not sure what kinda squig it is, its kinda furry and of course ugly. Kinda pathetic looking... wormy, wiggly and slow. Perfect for a Grot's prize kill He is wearing some Beaky armor(the chest piece) and sporting a fancy wolf fur cloak. He looks great all in all! Grot 2: Cloak - This one is the normal 'walking forward' grot, wth a hooded cloak on and a sword and boltgun on his hip(under the cloak). The cloak still needs abit of work, waiting for it to dry. He turned out good as well! Grot 3: Boss - this one looks like he's barking orders, pointing with a sniper rifle on his back and a chainsword(counts as power weapon) in his other hand. Grot 4: Dopey - This one is the least customized of the whole lot! He's standing there with a chainsword in one hand, and a sinper rifle in the other. Pretty simplistic conversion really. Grot 5: Frenchy - I made a woolen cap for this one, and a furred cloak. The hat turned out PERFECT, and the cloak needs a bit more fur around teh edge, but thats it! Grot 6: Clever Grot - This one is hiding behind a thousand sun helmet(From the Thunderwolf Calvary bits) and its teh perfect height and size for him to have 'cover' from it(no purpose in game of course, just makes hiim look extra snipery!) On his side is a rokkit launcha that I'm making like a mortar, just a little more work to be done on it then it's ready to go as well!
