How have units changed or not changed for you?

For some reason the one thing I noticed just TODAY :cuss , was that IC's cannot be singled out in combat.

Are you sure about this Rags? I'm pretty sure Independent Characters still fight as separate units in close combat, regarless of whether they are a part of a Challenge. Will double-check in a few hours when I get home.

I know this (i.e. WG as characters) has been discussed to death elsewhere, but I just read THIS a while ago.

This definitely demonstrates their intent, but if they want it to be the rule, then they need to get off of their butts and update the Errata/Amendments/FAQ for Space Wolves (and Orks) to make that way. This won't change Paladins, of course, that can't go out and lead other units, and can only form a unit of characters. For now, however, the rules do not discriminate between Nobz/Wolf Guard as units, or as leaders for squads (mobz/packs), even if that is what the designers had in mind.

Won't bother me either way, and we'll all adjust, but until they take the initiative to fix it all Wolf Guard are characters, which allows you to pick and chose your Challenges.

Best,

If you find something let me know. I see nothing in the book. The big book says refer to characters and character entry says they are not singled out. 5th had a VERY specific statement stating they fight on their own. I will look again tonight.

Just got to my book, and you are absolutely correct - page 63, "Attacks are made and Wounds allocated just as with normal assaults - the character cannot be singled out." Challenges being the obvious exception to that. Will need to go back through the Wound Allocation rules again and see if I can wrap my head around what difference this will make, and what the implications are for us.

After I read the book a few times earlier today trying to find where IC's were still singled out in combat Couldn't find it so I googled "independent character singled out in 6th"

And found this post

As stated I think Canis gets a slight buff in the middle of some TWC or Fennies although he is still susceptible if all his fennies die from shooting (easy to have happen).

Looked through it all again, and this is a very interesting bonus that just missed the first time through. Characters get a bit of a bonus by being a part of the mob now, and can't be singled out except by the Precision Strikes of other characters, which you can attempt to avoid with a Look Out, Sir! roll, or with a Challenge, in which you can provide and alternate character to accept. I'm really liking this. Running scenarios through my brain, it really seems like ICs will be much less susceptible to the old "hidden Power Fist", which drastically improves their survivability. Also nice that ICs don't have to be in B2B to fight, they just have to be Engaged (within 2") of someone in B2B.

Very nice!

Experiences so far with a 3 psyker list

Transports have so far proved vulnerable but have normally taken more hits than their points cost compared to the guys inside i.e. if those missile had hit my marines instead of the rhino I would have lost more than two which about what the rhino cost.

The extra sixes inches move in the Shooting phase is nice

Cover saves are lower but more common and have a tendency to stack seen quite a bit 2+ and 3+ cover saves so far due to nightfighting

Divination

1)reroll hits -- great in shooting and CC

2)reroll succesful saves- nice if want a unit dead

3)no cover saves- great - no night fighting cover saves, no jink(turboboosting) no stealth, no cloaks, no Smoke- love it won me a few games nothing like having a nightfighting game where you dont suffer cover and your opponent does

Seriously considering master of runes at the moment

Runic armour is a serious bonus now 95% of enemies cant strike at initiative and deny you a save
