Power Weapons...

Here's something I noticed, in the new book it seems to state that looking at the model should determine which power weapon, maul, axe, sword or lance the model is using.

Our Glorious Death cult became less glorious when 'power weapons' were demoted to AP3, but their entry simply states they have two 'power weapons'....

I used Empire flagellants holding all those falchions I never used as my DCAs, currently all armed with 'power swords'...

If i go back an break off one sword from each flagellant, and replace it with an Axe... probably taken from the chaos marauders sprues...

Would that give them the option to swing with +1 S and AP2 at I1? instead of their normal power sword swing?

Neither weapon is a specialist weapon so their number of attacks would be unchanged, and they could use the swords on MEQs and axes if desired vs those pesky TEQs...

Make sense to everyone? Am I off the mark here?

This then begs the question for someone like my wonderful TDA armored Ordo Malleus Inquistor, who totes around a psycannon and thunder hammer currently, if I upgrade him to a psyker, I trade the hammer in for a 'force weapon' (Not a Nemesis Force Weapon of any kind)... could this be a force axe if I modelled it that way? He's probably striking after most units anyway with his pitiful human initiative, so it may be a big buff to have an AP2 force weapon on this guy...

Yes, the DCA can take two different ones. The Inquisitors specifically have power swords and force swords as options, so can't take any other options. If you have a Ordo Malleus Inquisitor though, you get a Nemesis Daemon Hammer when you take Terminator Armour, which you can elect to keep if you upgrade him to a Psyker to have an AP2 weapon.

I'm not :) I just filed/fixed the hoods and facemasks to have greenstuff long hair draping in various poses so they just look like a blademistress in a bodyglove and armor. I cannot think of a time when I'd use the axe because in my opinion we should not be charging DCA's into units of terminators to begin with. The best way to keep a heavily armored melee unit from doing damage to you is to make sure it never gets into melee with anything in the first place. If their hamminators never engage anything it's not that big of a deal :) Against anything else, I think striking at init is a better deal.

Now there's an argument for having your counts-as Crusaders modeled as Arbites with a power maul and storm shield if you fight a lot of eldar or other 4+ opponents though... :D

what happens if you model your DCA with one ax and one sword . does it mean you can switch the weapons how and when you like ? charging meq go swords. charging termis go axs . charging some dudes with an IC swords hit the HQ , ax go after the normal dudes the DCA touching the hvy weapons use axs.

Yep. :D Sometimes, it is just that simple. You have two weapons, neither is specialist, you simply choose which to use in each round of combat.

This edition really is all about the "Melee with terminators is dangerous" scene, isn't it? I recommend taking them down the old fashioned way: shoot the crap out of them.
