My first post, My new Imperial Fists Army WIP!

Recommended Posts

Looks great! Others have already said what I would say, mold lines and bolter holes. I love the style, looks wonderful, cannot wait to see more!

Thanks!, well I cleaned up all the mold line on my lastest tactical squad, but unfortunately as seen in my previous post the spray primer ruined the models....

I went out and bought a unit of sniper scouts, I managed to hand prime one of them (I really want to paint somthing and dont want to wait a week for the primer to arrive..) Im just painting this guy up as a test mini, since I plan to have 3 units of snipers in my army (Is this a good idea??). Now my main question is and I lost some sleep over this, is what color to paint the cloaks that the snipers wear. I went over a million ideas in my head. Right now, I am thinking of doing them the same color as the bolters, a nice bright red, I think this would contrast nicely with the yellow and make them stand out. However, the flip side to this is that they are indeed scouts, sooo it may not make sense to make them stand out haha. My second thought was to paint the cloaks white, while my third one is to paint them white, with some camo (blue, grey). Any idea's?? what color do you guys like? Or do you have any other ideas??

Thanks, Patrick Rocca

For round decals on Imperial Fists, Micro-Sol is 1) your best friend and 2) only one part of the solution.

My method is as follows:

  1. Cut out decal completely around the circle. Zero overhang can be left.
  2. Let sit in Microsol and water (25/750 for about two minutes. While this is sitting, lightly wash the area with water so you can still move it around a little bit.
  3. Apply with a brush (you'll probably need two brushes)
  4. Dab dry with a paper towel.
  5. After letting it COMPLETELY DRY, get a piece of cloth and get it with the microsol/water solution and dab the decal, applying pressure when needed. Let dry and repeat. If you need to, dab it in pure MicroSol and apply.

It's worked for all my Fists. ;) Takes some practice though.

Thanks for great tutorial man, I will use this method once I decide to get them on the mini's I plan to finish painting them first then do them all at once. Plus I need to order the micro sol online, no one around here sells it

Alright so here is my scout test mini, still have some work to do on him, but what do you guys think so far??? Do you like the red cloak or should I go a differnt route with the cloaks? I think I like the red, it really stands out, but let know. Any comments are appreciated!

The cloak does look nice, but I think standing out is the last thing a scout would want. I do like red cloaks on Fists, but I tend to reserve that to the elites and captains. For scouts I tend to go for the camo cloaks. Just my two cents though.

Yeah I had the same thought, but I just love the red too much I think haha It goes against them blending in, but I imagine camo cloaks making them go invisible so it doesn't matter what color, or that is my way of getting around the red haha

That. Cloak. Is. Brilliant. Well done sir.

Thanks a lot man!

Here is an updated picture, still need to do the gun, also the lighting is kinda bad in this picture.

Hey just a quick update, here are a couple of pics of the sergeant. Progress is slow since I have no primer, it should be here monday though, so I will have lots of new updates next week.
