Jupiter
Sons of Jupiter Hobby Blog Table of Contents _________________________________________________________________________________________ • Terminator Librarian • First Tactical Squad • Dreadnought _________________________________________________________________________________________ In 4.5 weeks (August 11, to be precise), I will be playing in my local gaming group's first 6th edition tournament, currently slated to be 1500 points. I intend to bring my DIY Roman-themed Chapter, The Sons of Jupiter. I've been tinkering away on the army for close to 5 months now and don't have all that much finished. As you'll see very soon, I still have quite a lot to paint before the tourney. After much deliberation, I've decided to convert my B&C account blog to a Hobby WIP blog, as I'm hoping the increased comments and visibility on the WIP subforum will keep me motivated to stay to task on my deadline! Without further ado, here's the army list: HQ: Librarian, Terminator Armor Troops: 10 Tactical Marines, Plasma Gun, Missile Launcher, Rhino 10 Tactical Marines, Plasma Gun, Missile Launcher, Rhino 5 Scout Snipers, Missile Launcher, Camo Cloaks Elites: 5 Sternguard, 2x Combi-Flamer, Lightning Claw, Rhino Dreadnought, Plasma Cannon, Heavy Flamer Terminator Assault Squad, 3 TH/SS, 2 LC Heavy Support: Predator, Heavy Bolter Sponsons 5 Devastators, 3x Missile Launcher, Lascannon, Razorback w/ TL-Lascannon I am in the process of finishing up the last few models for the army, and right now I have the dreadnought (minus the plasma cannon; I had originally planned on using an assault cannon) and one tactical squad completed: http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/9017/img0295op.th.jpg http://img804.imageshack.us/img804/3502/img0296z.th.jpg http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/7771/img0297t.th.jpg http://img843.imageshack.us/img843/7998/img0294t.th.jpg http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/4520/img0276tn.th.jpg http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/5369/img0277db.th.jpg http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/6770/img0188ygs.th.jpg Here's what I settled on for my chapter crest, after a lot of deliberation: http://img804.imageshack.us/img804/5125/img0274t.th.jpg And for a teaser, here's a few shots of some other squads I have in the works: http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/6248/img0302hm.th.jpg http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/3670/img0303nb.th.jpg http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/8770/img0305p.th.jpg http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/7278/img0172qn.th.jpg A lot of these pictures are 1-3 months old, so for a quick recap before signing off for tonight: PAINTED: Dreadnought (minus plasma cannon arm) Tactical Squad #1 (minus rhino) BUILT: Tactical Squad #2 (not pictured) Terminator Squad (not pictured in entirety) Librarian (not pictured) 2 Rhinos (not pictured) Scout Squad (pictured, except I need to convert the heavy bolter into a ML) UNBUILT: Rhino Razorback (minus the TL lascannon turret; I've already built that) Predator Devastators I realize the project is a little ambitious for a mere 4.5 weeks, but I'm aiming to have everything built by the end of the week, leaving me 4 full weeks to paint 5 tanks and 26 infantry models... not an unreachable goal, if I do say so myself. First up will obviously be the rest of the building/converting, but then I'll likely tackle the libby/termis first! More to come tomorrow, I'm just too tired right now to post up my fluff/other pictures :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/256200-sons-of-jupiter-hobby-blog/ Share on other sites
Jupiter
Ah, what the heck. Here are a few more pictures of tonight's progress to keep you all happy :) (Very, VERY WIP pics of) the librarian! http://img845.imageshack.us/img845/9181/img0323g.th.jpg http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/6911/img0324lr.th.jpg http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/9917/img0325ei.th.jpg He still needs quite a bit of cleaning up/detailing, along with some major sculpting and gap filling on his cloak. Still, I'm really pleased with how he's shaping up! I'm thinking I might add a bit more detail to his base, but time will tell on that front. Ok, now I'm actually going to bed. More pictures to come tomorrow! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/256200-sons-of-jupiter-hobby-blog/#findComment-3117494 Share on other sites
Jupiter
July 12 Update As promised, I'm back again with an update: I hastily finished the terminator librarian, primed my terminators, libby, and second tactical squad, built the TL-las razorback for my devistators, finished the plasma cannon arm for the dreadnought, and put a couple hours of work in on painting the terminators. I feel pretty productive! Here's the group shot pre-priming, with a couple rhino hatches/magnetic options tossed in there: http://img839.imageshack.us/img839/366/img0326gsn.th.jpg Here's the progress I made on the terminators today. It's not much, but these damn basecoats seem to take me forever. I anticipate to have them finished by sometime in the middle of next week: http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/3232/img0329nz.th.jpg Finally (at least for this update) here's how the devistator razorback is looking so far. I have most of the plasticard and detailing done, so all that's left is to add rivets and lots of green stuff ;) Since my chapter is a defense/siege specialist chapter (they're an imperial fists founding chapter, after all), and since devistators are as siege/defensive as you can get, I wanted to give their razorback a heavily-fortified feel, like it would be used by the squad for cover or to plow their way through a ruined cityscape: http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/702/img0330dq.th.jpg http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/9334/img0331qu.th.jpg http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/3061/img0332qh.th.jpg That's it for today as I'm pretty tired from a long day. I expect the predator, third rhino, and devastators should show up tomorrow in the mail, so it looks like tomorrow will be a building day! Hopefully I'll snap some quick pics along the way for an update. Until tomorrow, Jupiter Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/256200-sons-of-jupiter-hobby-blog/#findComment-3118497 Share on other sites
