I've yet to finalise the fluff, but as the name implies, this chapter is heavy with eagle/aquila symbols and heraldry. I've co-opted ravenguard markings to stand in for eagles :D. Anyhow, without further ado, let me present the baby steps of my army. I've yet to buy paints yet, so I'll just be building for now. I've mainly stuck to kit-bashing with these guys, saving the more elaborate convesrions for the elites / commands. And the shield is indeed from the FW Raven Guard kit. I'm trying to vary my conversions as much as possible, and with only 5 types of shoulder pad, I did some cutting and filing to make them different, and had the shield left over. Anyhoo, without further ado, here are some more pics. These guys aren'y quite done yet, but you get the picture. Still gotta do bases and touch-up some mistakes. As for the chest eagles I would go for black, But I like marines with a limited colour pallet. I think red, black and white are three really strong colours and adding more might make them to busy. I'll do some test minis to see how they look. The Yak, the fluff is still very much a WIP but I've decided one some details, so I'll list those here :) Raven Guard genestock. A relatively young chapter. Initial cadre of marines drawn from the Hawk Lords. Captain Palamaon of the Hawk Lords became the first Chapter Master of the Solar Eagles. He is referred to as the First Eagle. They share the Hawk Lords' affinity for aerial assaults, and are well equipped with gunships, land speeders, and have a higher proportion of vanguard veterans than normal. They are not as specialised as the Hawl Lords however; the Solar Eagles are a relatively codex chapter. Solar Eagles captains are known as Talon-Captains. Their homeworld Accipitria is in the Ultima Segmentum, and is a world known for its soaring moutain ranges and strong winds. That's about all I have for now :) . And why does he have the chapter master's (?) helm if he's captain of the 3rd? The helmet wings are from the skull and wings banner top you get in the command squad box, chopped and filed to fit. The same piece has been used on Brother Niko's (aka lightning claw guy) backpack a couple of posts up. I got some DA commanders wings of ebay but they were a bit too big to fit on sideways. As for why he's wearing the chapter master's helmet, the first chapter master (Palamaon), to whom this helmet originally belonged, is a while dead, and Icarus is wearing it for reasons I haven't quite yet decided on :D . Painting's been slow, family coming up for a holiday, helping the gf move flat, gotta speed up to be done in time :D . Also, damn 6th ed has made me have to rethink my army.
