Gratan
So I am redoing my army for 6th. I know its early so whats best and whats not is a little hard to tell. Some things probably stayed the same, others changed. I'm trying to figure out what to equip so I caan model it. Captain, Power Armor Whats best on a Captain? Librarian, Power Armor Force Sword and? Storm Shield? Librarian, TDA Force Sword and? Storm Shield? Chaplain, Power Armor Crozius and Plasma Pistol? Tactical Squad Sergeant with Combi and Power Sword? or Just a Combi? or Power Sword and Plasma Pistol? Specialists? Heavy Weapons? Rhinos? Brother Captain Josef
it's tough. Only played a couple of games but struggled with power weapons. Not ignoring armour any more is really annoying and challenges knocking out your sergeants and characters gets boring. Even the ever awesome relic blade captain struggled only being AP3. You gotta have some AP2 combat weapons spread throughout and not let your squads get isolated by 2+ save characters. I honestly think we need to kit out our characters specifically to fight duels or just ignore upgrading them all together. You need AA weaponry. Flyng deamon princes with lash are a freaking ballache to stop. It was literally down to my rhino's storm bolters to bring that b****** down. I shudder to think about flying hive tyrants with my current build. pyroknight
Librarians in power armor cannot have storm shields (only TDA can). What is best depends entirely on what you want the unit to do. I can only tell you what is popular. Captain with relic blade and storm shield. (not as good, but still packs some hurt) Captain on bike with bike command squad. (Bikes are a little better) Librarian, no upgrades with null zone power (null zone is still one of the best powers in the game) Librarian in TDA with storm shield and vortex of doom power (from codex). Chaplain with jump pack are decent but still unpopular when compared to other HQ choices. (any other HQ can be better) Tactical squads vary greatly depending on what you need them to do. That’s why we call them tactical squads. Heavy bolters in tactical squads are still not popular. Power fist sergeants in tacticals are less popular. Anything else is fair game. Hfran Morkai
Storm Shields on Librarians are of less use now as they don't help with Perils of the Warp, which was the main reason I had a sad when Space Wolves couldn't take one on their Rune Priests. I was under the impression that Chaos Space Marine daemon princes can't fly, but Chaos Daemon ones can. Schultzhoffen
pyroknight has it pretty spot on. A word of caution (take it or leave it). Tac Squads do not a CC unit make. They are better being equipped for a shooting/scoring role -i.e. give the Sgt a combi-weapon at best (rhinos are still good for Tac Squads -provided you have other vehicles that can be shot at). Furthermore, Plasma should be considered due to its ability to deal with Armour 2+ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/256434-equipping-space-marines/#findComment-3121798 Share on other sites
