tksolway
With the new rules for flyers, forcing them to come in from reserves, does it make sense to use the transport capability of the Storm Raven? Fully packed with a dread and a squad it can easily be a third of your army, do you really want to roll a one on that second turn? I'm thinking I might just use my Storm Ravens as fire support now rather than transports, especially now that Raiders can move 18" per turn. Gentlemanloser
LR for Transport, SR for zooming. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/256537-storm-raven-as-a-transport/#findComment-3121523 Share on other sites
Zeratil
Agreed. The Stormraven is very vulnerable in skimmer mode, you want to keep it zooming around using it's weaponry. Late game if you need to you can use it to reposition troops quickly, but I would run it as a gunship most of the time. Zeratul29
Most definitely use it as fire support now, even just to reposition one of your units would take two turns moving as a skimmer, which would make it very vulnerable, i would say just using with the assualt cannon, multi melta or typhoon missle launcher to take out enemy flyers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/256537-storm-raven-as-a-transport/#findComment-3121711 Share on other sites
tksolway
I played a game today against Necrons. They had three Death Gliders. My SR Didn't last a single turn. Flyer Spam seems to be a major issue, because I don't really have anything that can deal with it. Inquisitor Fox
Consider putting a 6 man Interceptor Squad in the Storm Raven. They can deploy regardless of the zooming and deep strike without deviation due to shadowed skies. Zoom zoom ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/256537-storm-raven-as-a-transport/#findComment-3121729 Share on other sites
BLACK BLΠFLY
I have had success using a Librarian and five Paladins embarked in a Stormraven. It's still a great assault vehicle. The only danger of course is if the SR is wrecked or destroyed since the squad takes S10 hits with no armor saves. Most of my games so far have been against armies that don't have a lot of skyfire which helps a lot. I got lucky today - Stormraven got shot down but I only lost two Paladins then they eat some Space Wolves and Tau. I wouldn't want to run it versus an army with lots of skyfire.
