So I had this idea for a DIY chapter and I needed some feedback. I"ve only just started writing the fluff, so I'll give you what I've got and expand on it later. Keep in mind that the ordering of everything is not set, and I'll proof read it and tweek it later. Here goes...

Knights Vigil

Founding:

Founded between 700.M40 an 800.M40, the Knights Vigil are part of the 25th founding, a very young chapter by comparison with the great chapters of the second founding. While their parent chapter is unknown, or for some reason a secret, their gene-seed is that of Rogal Dorn. It is believed they where created in response to increased xenos activity within the borders of the Imperium, as well as the growing strength of Abbadon's Black Crusades.

History:

Because of the nature of their founding, the Knights Vigil believe that they carry a purpose stronger than most other chapters, for they believe it is their duty to purge the Imperium of the sly and cunning xenos that seek to infiltrate its boundaries. Part of their ideology is based on the view that the Imperium has grown "lazy"or "soft, and that they were created to tighten the Imperium's grip on it's domain. They see themselves as the Imperium's cleanser, and are loath to let anything stop them from destroying their enemies. they are very suspicious and act swiftly and decisively in the face of treachery.

Character:

The Knights Vigil see themselves as the protectors of the Imperium, rather than the protector's of Mankind. In saying this, they consider human citizens to be an important resource, and often give high priority to extraction or rescue missions. However, unlike some other chapters, if it is clear that such actions would lead to extreme casualties on their behalf, the Knights Vigil will abort the mission and evacuate their own brothers and leave all humans not already rescued to their fate. Similarly, if destroying a target would put citizens in danger or cause mass casualties, the Knights Vigil will not hesitate in their mission, even if their actions take the lives of a thousand innocents. In their mind, it is better to act swiftly and sacrifice a few, then to hesitate and condemn many.

Scheme:

Gray plate, pale yellow trim, lots of weathering.

As ecritter said, it'd seem a bit weird if their parent chapter was unknown with so (relatively) recent a founding.

Not too much here yet to differentiate them from other purity-minded chapters. Just something to keep in mind as you proceed. :D

Oh, and I concur on Lysimachus' assessment of the name.

If you imagined the icon of the Red Scorpions on its shoulder what you have there is a Red Scorpion.

Im sorry but you might need to give it some tweeks before declaring it as your own.

Also you are going to need to state a parent chapter. One does not simply forget it rigins soon after creation.

HERETICAL!

Just playing around.

Good luck!
