Nemesis DreadKnights

Aye, sadly it only works against a handful of armies. All marines, Daemons, Orks and 'Nids are immune for it (most of the time at least), and the other armies probably already got their behind handed back to them when they were in close combat with a Dreadknight. Still, any free bonus is nice. :D
Just got mine built yesterday. What an amazing model!! Wish you could pose legs a little differently but otherwise awesome.

What...........like this?

It's easy all you need is a hacksaw, greenstuff, a lot of patience/time and much much swearing ;)

(did a guide here if your feeling adventurous.... http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=226502 )

GL, you could try something radically different. Sometime, I find that when I just can't get a color scheme right, it's because I wasn't even sure about that scheme at first. You could try white ceramite knights. Priming white and dipping with an army painter shader can produce fast and nice results. Otherwise, the basic paint boltgun metal, drybrush with mithryl silver and wash with GK wash (50% asurmen blue wash-50% water).

The DK is awesome. Yesterday, mine dropped a Mawlock with one ounch in the face... Poor nids :(

Lovely Colour!

I just cannot get my Guys in a colour I like. :(

My painting skillz are teh suxxor, and thier either look bright blue, or drak grey.

IMHO unless your getting into advanced competition standard techneques like blending etc. How well your models come out is largely a matter of recipie & experimentation. Naturally there is an element of practice&skill involved & things like edge higlights will get better the more you do them, but even so simply using a well matched colour to your base can transform what might otherwise have looked like cack-handed wobbly lines on the raised edges to something that belends in and only looks untidy on close scrutiny. Also washes are your friend! :D (were not trying to win a golden deamon just look good, so cheat everywhere you can!)

With that in mind the sucess of the blue-silver on that GK I painted above is imho mostly about the colours I used and the order in which I applied them, there is perhaps an element of me being well practiced at drybrushing, and beeing willing to spend a long time on each model, but I belive it is entirely reproducable by even a novice (with patience). The project log in my Sig has a more indepth guide with pics, but it is essentially: base coat chainmail, wash asurmen blue (thick), drybrush chainmail (being gentle in more recessed areas), drybrush mithril silver (focusing on most raised surfaces and all but avoiding edges&recesses)...........profit!

Experimentation can pay dividends! That recipie was a product of a couple of evenings and some scratty old tactical marines I painted about 10 different ways. I've found over the years it saves a lot wasted effort and or heartache further down the line (tho I am somewhat OCD about being happy with how everything looks, which as much a curse as a blessing)

Chairman_Woo: Nice repose! I agree that the Dreadknight model is gorgeous, but the stock pose is horrible. Unforuntately, reposing the model is a :D and a half. I literally cut apart every single joint in the right arm and leg, and then had to transplant in different wires and other pieces to make it all fit back together. Still, I'm quite happy with the results!

No repose on this one, but I've just finished to model (still basing to do!) and I'm pretty happy with it! I went for the more "realistic/Forgeworld" approach...
