emeraldegg
Hey guys, would you recommend putting a missle launcher on a Dreadnought? I don't have 6th ed book yet, so I can't be sure, but something about missle launchers having a new missle that makes it easier to shoot down flyers (flakk, I think)? If so, the dreadnought becomes one of the few ways we have to shoot flyers aside from an aegis defense line. So I'm wondering, would it be worth the $8 I'd have to spend on getting it (unless someone can get one cheaper), and worth replacing the close combat weapon? Especially if I don't have a defense line as of right now? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/256829-dreadnought-missle-launchers/ Share on other sites
Reclusiarch Darius
No, we don't get flakk. Its terrible anyway, we're better off with the S8 psy-bolt twin autocannon. Zeratil
yeah, S8 Autocannons are much better, if Flakk missiles get FAQ'd in then maaaybe it'd be worth it, but otherwise definitely not. thade
Don't be so quick to discount the difference between "Two S8 AP4 shots" versus "Either two S8 AP3 shots or two S4 small blasts." I know a lot of players that swear by their frag missiles; stacking wounds on tight clusters is at times better than ID threats. Â Also, I think it's a good possibility that they will get access to Flakk missiles...so not really a waste, either way. RedemptionNL
The missile launcher on a Dreadnought is only single shot though. And not twin-linked. thade
The missile launcher on a Dreadnought is only single shot though. And not twin-linked. Oh, right, I always forget that. Well, that's a bummer. RedemptionNL
Aye. And 2 Twin-linked S8 shots fired on Snap fire averages out to 0.611 hits on average. A single S7 Skyfire missile averages 0.667 hits. The bigger chance to do penetrate offsets the slightly lower chance to hit, so the twin-linked S8 autocannon ends up having a bigger chance of damaging a flyer than the flakk missile. Add that to the fact that the twin-linked autocannons are much better at almost anything non-flyer related, and there's no contest.
