terminator armored Inquisitor wip

number6! ;)

So, I've been thinking a great deal about this (as I'm about to do it myself) and the reason I don't want to use as-is terminator parts (meaning chest and legs) is that they represent the size and shape of a Space Marine in that super-heavy armor. While you could reason (without too much of a stretch) that the Inquisitor him[or even her]self was that bulky and massive either due to some form of cybernetic/genetic modification (not space-marine style but some "custom work") and the armor being even more bulky than normal TDA, in my case I'm putting a Sister of Battle into TDA...and she's small. So I'm lowering the arms (and shoulder plates) to try and make her seem smaller...I'm going to end up modding the legs somehow to bring them closer together too.

Honestly I don't know how I'm going to do this without it looking horrific, but she looks silly with that tiny little plastic sister head in that massive, massive suit of armor.

I had that issue too Thade, which is why I hunted around on ebay until I found some of the oop terminator inquisitors. While their proportions are a bit off, they do look smaller then the current terminator models (slightly), enough to make me happier at least

You know, that's not a bad idea. I actually used the old Captain metal Terminator fig for my Apothecary in TDA for my marines. Still, even the metal ones are a bit bulky for the lady, haha. And they're harder to mold and modify.

No sir...I may have to suck it up and try to really convert this by hand. I'm excited and nervous about it.

If I don't butcher it beyond believability, I'll post it here for posterity.

I used a strike marine body, with a warriors of chaos cape instead of a rear torso, had to cut the shoulder pads quite a bit to get them to fit well, He should indeed be human sized, not terminator sized. I'll post pics when I get a chance.

My inquisition units are all red, while my knights are more blue.

for my second one, yes, 2 is gold, i'm going to use dreadnought greaves for shoulder pads to make him bigger, he'll be more standing straight rather than dynamically posed like this guy is.

going to the car to snap a photo now....

Photos, fresh off the press/trunk of my car:

posted him as WIP a while ago, never got around to snapping photos.

Holy moly, but your DK conversion is awesome! :)

@thade: Yeah, I know the proportions are "Space Mariney" with my Inquisitor ... but the 40K Citadel range isn't even close to "true scale" ... much as we like to dream. Simply set a Cadian trooper next to a standard tactical Marine and you'll see.

I reasoned that since the game insists that TDA-equipped models take up two spaces, it's "OK enough" to use standard Marine bits to make the Inquisitor in TDA. I'll just pretend he's a bit smaller. But I also like the idea that he somehow requisitioned an actual Astartes suit, and then had it customized for his own actual build. Talk about badass!

I looked at the size of the Inquisitor Hector Rex model, and thought, he must be a relative of Arjac!

Seeing as 6th is trying to be as cinematic as possible, I was just thinking that the inquisitors TDA suit just had some extra servo assists and kiddie seats in to make sure you could move in it :)

Thade here's the idea i had to made a female looking TDA inquisitor. I was going to use Drazhar from Dark Eldars legs and mount a GK TDA torso with the gaps smoothed with GS. then use power armor arms and PA shoulder plates. the rest is up to you to model. but the open topped torse lets you show off a face, or female features. hope that helps :)

DK2K, that... will look absolutely ridiculous.

Dark Eldar legs are even skinnier than Marine legs, and if you try and put a terminator torso on that you'll end up with something out of a 50s burlesque cartoon (you know, the ones with the massive cardboard box with a pair of shapely feminine legs dwarfed under it).

Thanks, DK2k

I really really like that model (I'd never seen it before)...how small are the legs? I'm worried they'd be too slender for the GK body...but maybe it'll work.

I may pick the model up anyway...honestly if I affix a different noggin and arms to it, that's begging to be a counts-as assassin of some kind. Eversor perhaps.

Though, actually...I kind of want this guy to be my Eversor counts-as.

ADDENDUM: I already have a counts-as Callidus. <3

This is my inquisitor conversion i have just finished building for my adeptus custodes army (counts as grey knights)

I used bits from the chaos lord terminator, captain lysander hammer arm and the shoulder pads from a company called anvil industries

Thanks, DK2k

Yeah the swashbuckler would look ace as a Eversor Assassin. Would be something different on the table for a change.

@Furyou Miko : I meant the PA grey knight armor not TDA ( yeah that would look hilariously like a 1930's cigarette box, with legs_ on the Dark Eldar legs. it would still have feminine looking legs, and more armored looking torso than there standard sister PA. It would be alot of GS sculpting to make the Eldar legs blend with the GK PA torso, and easiest way would be to add in talbards, and relic gear.

How did you make those "Stormbolters"??? They look great and i love the Inq stormtropper model.

Cut the tip off the Lasgun the Kasarkin model has, cut the end off a stormbolter, swap them. then cut off the stormbolter ammo feed and glue it to the side of the gun.

Easy! sucks that the Kasarkin are metel.

  • 2 weeks later...

This is my Inquisitor in TDA ;)

I can swap the Hammer and Psycannon for the Sword and Shield, if I like.

What do you think?

Ah, I had the same idea of using Hector Rex conversion as a Terminator Armoured Ordo Malleus Inquisitor, GOFADK, but I was wondering how well the TDA Daemon hammer and Psycannon arm would fit on his model. The ability to switch between the hammer/cannon loadout and using him as Hector Rex is indeed handy considering his cool stormshield would be a waste not to use.

What did you use for the replacement upper arms to hold the Psycannon and hammer bitz? Seems to be some white resin bits but with the camera glare I can't recognize them.
