GRATAN's Dark Angels Project Log

So, I have just started a project to get my army ready for 6th. This is the first of a series of project posts to help keep me motivated and on track.

With the new Starter Set for 6e on the horizon I recently decided to get my army finally painted, and I chose to do my loyalist Marines as Dark Angels. The first part of this project is to complete the Command Squad for the army. Right now I have just started building and will hopefully get primed this weekend and start painting next week.

Here is the Captain Tenniel, his command squad and transport

I still need to drill out barrels and such and tidy up some things, but for the most part, they are ready for priming.

Thinking of Barrels, what size bit should I use to drill them out? Bolters? Bolt Pistols? Meltaguns? Plasma Pistols? Assault Cannons?

Thank you for looking. C&C appreciated.

First off, I didn't even notice that we could put twin-linked assault cannons on Razorbacks, that's freaking sweet!

Your power swords for your commander and champion are great. I like the way the Commander is holding his straight up as if issuing an order or a challenge or something.

I dont know if its allowed in the DA codex, but I am still using the standard C:SM until the new DA 'dex is out.

Thanks! Not all of my marines are very dynamic in their poses, but I try to get the most out of what I can. I am proud of both the Captain and champion

I've also assembled a Chaplain

Right now it is just the standard powermaul. Should I chop the end off and add something more Crozius?

A lot of the different Space Marine boxes have banner tops, the little bits you glue onto the top of Space Marine banners, and they might work pretty well as a proper Crozius bit if you cut the maul off the end. A lot of them have wings and such, so they'd fit right in as a crozius.

Yeah, I know. The DA sprues have some really nice ones of several types and sizes, so i have the bits... I think I am going to leave it as a maul however. It's simple and less work and I've decided that only Chaplains in my army will have them. This will set them apart along with their paint sceme. I'll probably end up making a Chaplain with jumppack at some point as well, so he'll get a maul too.

  • 3 weeks later...

A beautiful force. I too have been making DA... been focussing on basic Marines and 2 large squads of veterans atm.

I'm looking forward what way you'll end up going. :)

Will you make a lot of vehicules? Or go very footsloggy? Drop Pod orientated? 3-wing? Greenwing?
