Angels Sanguine WIP (pic heavy)

I've pretty much fleshed out my DIY chapter, and I was itching to get some modelling and painting done... and so here I sit with a handful of Angels Sanguine. I've posted the SG before, and here are the new guys to add to the collection:

White Death Company, because... that's awesome.

Some with jump packs, some without - each squad will be completed shortly:

Assault DC Sarge

Assault DC marine

Marcurio, The Undying

Assembled and unpainted

Designated Marksmen for each regular tactical squad:

I had fun using the old school heavy weapons bodies for these guys - lots of cool little details, and they seem so stoic just holding position like statues.

Thunderhammer for kicks:

He doesn't belong in an army that isn't BA, but... I had the model, so why not?

The Twins, Raphael and Mijkel:

and finally, an objective marker - a battle brother beaten to within the inches of his capacity to fight on...

I know the lighting is lame, but it's all I have at my workstation. The post is supposed to show that he's literally holding his guts in his armor, and he's out of ammo. He is not happy, and the Emperor willing, during games, he will be saved! Or, failing that, we'll secure the geneseed from his broken corpse. Honored are those who fall in His service...

It's a custom-sculpted hand with a gout of warpfire attached.

Lemme upload a shot of the other one I have and hopefully it'll turn out okay. (Cell phone camera.)

Hopefully now the model makes more sense now.

Your painting is great, the DC are going to really stand out on the table. Good job! I'd love to see a whole DC unit painted like that on the tabletop. Also a huge fan of the objective counter, I've done a few similar objectives but all 'after the fact' as it were - the marine in question is already dead/maimed horribly. Look forward to seeing that one finished, for sure. Also pretty keen on Marcurio, he's got that BAMF feel about him...

Only criticism I could make (and it's something I forget to do sometimes) - trim away mold lines before you paint! It's really obvious on a few of the minis in the first post, and if you're gentle with clippers/scissors you can shave the lines off really easily.

Just my 2 credits

Raphael's left hand is really busy, he's got a staff and a couple of other things in it... :whistling:

That and what Arkhan said. Otherwise, really nice work :wallbash:

Now that you mention it, it does look a little off in the photo.

He's really only holding the staff - I used a SG arm-gun thing for him, because I think they're neat.

What's throwing the look off in the photo, I think, is that his shoulder-shield has some up-to-this-moment unpainted purity seals on it, and it looks kind of a hot mess. I should get on that, maybe relocate them. Hmm.

And jeez, the mold lines. All my stuff came in the mail and I was like AND NOW WE ASSEMBLE AND PAINT, I didn't even stop to think about it. :|

Now I have to go back and fix all that. >.<

Always nice to see another Angels Sanguine player. Which parts did you use for the sniper?

He's an interesting sniper model I picked up from TheWarStore, with a modified rifle barrel and some BA tactical kit attached. The gun looked a little dinky beforehand - so I lopped off the end of a chapter banner and swapped it in, worked like a charm.

The bit of wreckage he's positioned in is a part of an oooold school metal 40k vehicle; I wanna say an attack bike but I'm not sure exactly.

I'm having trouble getting the white in a state that's good for drybrushing - anyone have tips on that? C&C is welcome and what I'm here for, obv.

sorry.. maybe im confused.. arent the angels sanguine black and red, with silver helmets and shoulder trim, who never ever show their faces helmetless? the same ones who threatened to kill dante and a collection of other chapter masters should an autopsy be done on one of their own?

They sure are black and red, you're right! It's just that I got wind of another BA successor having alabaster white SG and DC, and I thought that sounded interesting - so my DC are going to be white, as I stated in the intro post.

I didn't read the books, so I didn't get the memo on the whole "No faces, ever" thing until too late with the librarian and the Twins - so I'll have to sculpt some cowls for those guys.

Gonna leave the wounded marine helmetless, though, as though he's just so badly busted up that the last thing he decided to do was view the battlefield with his own eyes, unimpeded by the cover. DRAMATIC FLAIR.
